John 3:16 what does it mean ot that lost man or son.

God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten sons. Please THIINK what that unsaved father, husband, son knows about Jn 3:16 . and God gave His son. I received an email today from a couple who heard me preach some 30 years ago and they said, you told that God gave his son to suffer and die for our sins, paid the debt in full, rose again and was seen by hundreds. They said I never heard before that Jesus died for our SINS, paid our debt in full. We got saved and our lives have never been the same. Thanks for telling us what "He gave his only begotten son meant.

 

I, like you, have received scores of Christmas cards and a good number had Jn 3:16 either printed or written on them. That lost man or son does not know what that means unless we tell the whole gospel. The gospel is not that babe in the manger but that man Christ Jesus on the cross for our sins. That alone will bring a merry Christmas to anyone who understands He paid our debt in full, rose again and they receive Him as their Savior too. The devil will be glad for you to have a religious tingle thinking you have really spread the Christmas spirit.

 

In stead tell in your letter or card, "God loves you and sent His Son, the Lord Jesus, to suffer and die for our sins, paid our debt in full, rose again and was seen by hundreds. Believe God that this gospel, this good news, will take you to heaven. Believe Him, receive Him as your savior too and you will have a merry Christmas and happy new year. Remember the day you got saved-all the days of your life

"Learn to learn." Someone said, there are two kinds of people. Those who learn from their past and those who don't. Please learn from your past.

 

"Remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life" Deut. 16:3. They were to never forget the day they came out of bondage.God said, "Don't you forget it "ALL" the days of your life. The parallel is for us to remember the day we got saved, we came out of bondage to sin and Satan. For well over 20 years, I daily, remember that day I was saved as I enter into His gates with thanksgiving.in my prayer time. I remember when I was so under conviction and the pastor told me how God loved me and His son suffered and died for my sins, paid my debt in full, was buried, rose again and I needed to trust that to get me to heaven and receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior.

 

As I started down the aisle to confess Christ as my Savior, the church burst into tears. I did not know the whole church had been praying for three weeks to get saved. Half of the choir had to sit down they were crying so hard with joy that I was coming to confess Christ as my Savior. I remember that day, DAILY. My whole life was transformed and I have not gotten over it yet and get the same joy of my salvation afresh every day. What a way to start the day. Do it dear Christian and you will keep that first love and joy of your salvation. Thank Him again right now and start the new year with JOY unspeakable. The second little word from heaven

The angel said, "I bring you good tidings of great joy" Lk 2:10. "These things have I written unto you that your joy might be FULL" 1 Jn. 1:4. The good news from heaven was "great joy" and "fullness of joy".Is your life FULL of GREAT Joy? Not FUN. It can be and should be. "The joy of the Lord is your strength" Fun is earthly, enjoyed by the flesh, Joy is spiritual and enjoy by the new life in Christ. Above all it is the "fruit of the Spirit." When you share the gospel, you are offering them real joy. How in the world a born again Christian keeps from graciously "preaching" the gospel I will never understand. Be a Spirit filled Christian and start by giving people a good gospel filled tract. Then give the gospel with your tongue, tell them the good news, how the Lord Jesus suffered and died for our SINS, was buried, rose again and was seen by hundreds and let God do the convincing and converting. Someone gave you the gospel, now do unto others the same. make sense?

Christians being called "believers" or "followers of Christ"

Celeste was back in the hospital Mon and Tues. Thought again she was having a heart attack. PRAY FOR HER. and my friend Kurt's wife Pat. She has had a hard time recovering from surgery

 

Christmas is about three little words. The first word is SAVED. "Unto you is born a SAVIOR" Lk 2:11. The jailor cried out, "What must I do to be saved" "Believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved" Acts 16:31. There is a big trend to call ourselves "a believer" or a "follower of Jesus" I understand why. But what we need is people who are saved! That all starts with the gospel being given for "the gospel is the power of God unto salvation." Rom. 1;16. Please listen careful and see if the gospel is scripturally given.

 

This week I received a tract in the mail on John 3:16 and claiming it is the greatest gospel verses in the Bible. Excuse me but the gospel is not given at all in that verse. "The gospel is how Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again and was seen by hundreds" 1 Cor' 15:1-4. It is not given in John 3:16 or in most sermons preached last Sunday. Listen carefully and it will scare you to see the gospel is not being given. There is no power for salvation in that sermon if the gospel is left out.

 

Then I received a sermon, preached by one of the most well known preachers of the past. So help me, the gospel was not in it at all and he was called one of the greatest "gospel preachers" of all times. A few months ago I picked up a d book of sermons by another great "gospel preacher". I was stunned. Out of the 15 sermons in it only TWO had the gospel in them and both of them just did get it in. That is like leaving Christ out of Christmas. No wonder there are so many professing Christians not possessing one ounce of salvation. This is not to be critical but to be discenring so we will get more people "saved" through our witnessing and preaching. Make sense? Did the Lord Jesus suffer and die for your sins, rise again and seen by hundreds or didn't He? The other words next time.

Best of all, a SAVIOR was born

"I bring you good tidings of great joy" Lk 2:10

"The glory of the Lord shone around them" 2:9

"Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men" 2:14.

This is all fine but the really good news and most important is "Unto you is born this day in the city of David, A SAVIOR which is Christ the Lord. 2:11.

You will hear much about "great joy", "peace on earth", "good will toward men" but very little about "the Savior" and THAT is what the world needs to hear to have "great joy", "peace on earth" "good will" etc. WE Christians MUST tell about the Savior. What must we tell?

How "the Lord Jesus suffered and died for our sins, paid our debt in full, was buried, rose again and was seen by hundreds of people" Now they have a chance to be saved and get in on the real joy, peace and new birth God offers, with a brand new life and a home in heaven instead of a cell in hell.

You dear Christian man or woman, will ring the bells of heaven and gladden the heart of our precious Savior if you tell this good news, this glorious gospel as joyfully as you give gifts to your children and see at least one person get saved. Make sense? May you have a very merry Christmas and much better one if you lead one soul to Christ.

"Lay up treasures in heaven". You know it'd Everything else you will leave right here. All fortune, fun, frivolous, and favorite things. YOU CAN WIN SOULS TO CHRIST WHO WILL LIVE FOREVER IN HEAVEN INSTEAD OF HELL. Satan has lied long enough saying, "We can't all be soul winners. THAT is a lie. God commands us to get the gospel to "every" person possible. Mk 16:15. He also said the harvest in plenteous. Let's obey God and not Satan.

How much do you want to take with you. Some are going to take 30 fold, some 60 fold and some 100 fold.Would you be happy with a million dollar automobile that produced less than 100 fold. Dear Sir, Kind lady, you are worth a billion times more than a million dollar car!. Please don't run on 30 percent of your worth or 60 but 100. Make sense.

Priority 1 for 2009 is to produce 100 fold and not a mere 10%. Make sense. Start out by planting seeds through good gospel filled tracts so that friend will have a chance to go to heaven instead of hell. "He that winneth souls is wise" ARE YOU?!

 

You will be far more effect a witness and soul winner using correct terms

In correct: "Share your faith" Whose faith, the Baptist, Methodist, the Catholic or whose. Multitudes think they must DEFEND THEIR FAITH. No. We are to share the GOSPEL. Please let this sink in. People are not saved by my faith but "the Gospel is the power of God unto Salvation to everyone who believes" Rom 1:16. Share the gospel, "Preach the gospel" God told us. Mk 16:15.

Christ died for us. NO, Christ died for our sins" 1 Cor. 15:1-4. Those military people are dying for us. Only Christ died for our sins, Paid our debt in full. We must understand that and be sure will always say, Christ die for our sins.

Christ died on the cross for us. NO. Those two thieves died on a cross but did not and could not die for our sins. We MUST say that over and over as it is said by people and preachers until it is so common. 1 Cor. 15:3. There is a world of difference.

"Give your life or your heart to Jesus'?" NO

People talk about the church and God and what they mean to them and think they have witnessed. NO. We are to witness to them the GOSPEL and I think all four points of 1 Cor 15:1-4 which God declares is the gospel. "How Christ died for our sins, (paid our debt in full"1 Pet. 3:18) rose again, and was seen by hundreds". I find this packs a punch for no one saw one of the so called gods of all other religions,ris from the dead,.

Please learn theses statements and be sure to use the correct parts of the gospel. Make sense?

How Can I share my faith without an argument?

In my hand is a 32 page booklet put out by a wonderful godly ministry, that I know very well asking and answering this qquestion.May I share my thoughts and I NEVER have an argument.

1. We are not to share our faith, we are to share the GOSPEL.. the good news. If you really catch this and believe it, it will transform your witnessing. NEVER talk about your faith, your beliefs, your doctrine, your particular church etc.

2. Share the GOSPEL, We are to preach the GOSPEL to every person, possible. This is what I share and I NEVER get into arguments. ". "God loves you and sent His Son, the Lord Jesus to suffer and die for our sins, paid our debt in full, was buried, rose again and was seen by hundreds of people.

3. Be sure all of our sins are confessed and forsaken (Ps. 51:2-4 and 13) or you will never lead people to Christ.

4. Be sure you are yielded to and depending on the Holy Spirit to do the convicting and convincing of the one to whom you are sharing the gospel. He must, you can't.

5. REMEMBER, "the natural man receives not the things of God, neither can he know them." 1 Cor. 2::14. God has to open their eyes. You do not talk people not being saved.

6. Tell them how "the Lord Jesus suffered and died for our sins" several times for them to catch it.

7. Let them know you do not discuss different doctrines, you just want to tell them the good news, How Jesus suffered and died for our sins. Paid our debt in full rose again and was seen by hundreds of people. If they want to argue, I just tell them, "I am sorry but I do not argue with people" and walk away. "shake the dust off your feet."

This is brief but I have found it works.

In my 86 years, I have never noticed this, have you?

The beautiful Christmas cards are coming! I love them. I read them. guess what I discovered.. We are wishing a "merry Christmas", Joy to the world, rejoice a Savior is born and not giving one word how to have a merry Christmas and Joy or rejoice. Even the lost world is thinking about the birth of Jesus but they really don't have a clue how to have a merry Christmas or to know this Savior? We must do something about it.

First, put a good gospel tract in every Christmas card or letter.That is so simple and everyone can do that. They then can know how to find that joy. They now have a chance to go to heaven. You then have obeyed GOD by preaching the gospel to your friends. Make sense.

Secondly, add a personal note how you really discovered what Christmas is all about and give them the gospel in your testimony and what it means to you..I do this all the time by telling people how I heard for the first time that God loved me and sent His Son, the Lord Jesus to suffer and die for my sins, paid my debt in full, rose again and was seen by hundreds of people. . It made sense to me and I accepted Christ as my Savior too and it transformed my life for good and forever.

Thirdly, "preach the gospel" to them. I did this today. I said to a lady at her desk, as I gave her "Your ticket to Heaven." She thanked me over and over for the tract as she read the title. then I said, "remember, an 86 year old man cares whether you go to heaven or not. I do this all the time when it would not proper to stop people from their work etc. then I said, "Remember this, God loves you and sent the Lord Jesus to suffer and die for your sins and mine, rose again and was seen by hundreds. He wants you to believe this and receive Him as your Savior too. Forever, you will be glad you did ? Does that make sense?

Priority 3, Impact someone's life DAILY.

Priority no. 3

Impact people's lives. I have talked to two such people that God blessed and used me to impact them for eternity and everyday. GOD DOES IT. We cannot, except God does it through us.

1. First to lead them to Christ. You do and they are "a new creature', changed forever.

2. Stay in love with Jesus and impact people as you just talking to them. Last week, someone whom I have not seen in twenty years called me. My heart was so full from reading a fantastic book on prayer that it just came out, it spilled out on them as I poured out my heart and God impacted their life, they told me. GOD DID THAT.

"Exhort one another" DAILY. We must so walk in the Spirit that God will touch their lives in just an ordinary conversation. Both of these said I did that to them. God did it but what a joy to hear and see God do it.

Jake :Lyons did that to me, my first day at church when this sharp good looking man came up to me, stuck his big hand out to me and said, ":Hi my name is Jake, what's your name." The last one who asked me that was the police and I am not kidding. Then the night, 3 weeks later, when I heard the gospel and received the Lord Jesus he came up to me , hugged me and said if I can ever do anything for you let me know." He and his wife prayed EVERY day for me for the next 40 years. Every lost person needs someone like to that to impact their lives. You be one who does it.You will do that when you walk in the Spirit, stay in love with Jesus and give the gospel to everyone you can.

Top priority for 2009

I LOVE YOU DEAR PEOPLE This is may not the second most important priority but I felt strongly I should put this in now. In the instructions about the Sower in Matt. 13, Jesus said in verse 25, "And while men slept, the enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat"

The trouble in America and all over the world really is that we Chrsitians have sown enough seed and won enough people to Christ and now the tares are destroying our country with atheism, and godless living. When studies show that less than 5 % of Christians ever lead a soul to Christ, THAT is the worse sin in the world. "to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin" We Christians are to blame for our problems.We alone have the cure for the problems in the world and we are not giving it out enough. I was 17 and no one had ever witnessed to me and told me how to be saved. When I heaard it and was saved, it transformed my lie forever. Make sense? "Jesus said the harvest in plenteous but the laborers are few." Be a l;aborer in 2009.

Jesus said, "Preach the gospel to EVERY person". Mk 16:15. This is what Phillip did to that one man in the chariot in Acts 8. Make this a top priority in 2009. One Way everyone of us can do it is to give everyone a good GOSPEL filled tract. They then have a chance to be saved. Celeste and I had lunch in a nice restaurant today. Here is what I said to the waiter.

"God loves you and sent the Lord Jesus to suffer and die for your sins, paid your debt in full, was buried but He rose again and was seen by hundreds. God said, If you will trust what He did to save you and receive the Lord Jesus in your heart to be your Savior too, He will give you a new birth, a brand new start in life and take you to heaven Pray, dear God, I believe You and want to receive the Lord Jesus as MY Savior right now" They were very busy and that is all I could do right then, but he got the gospel and now has a chance to be saved. I told him to read the tract I gave him (Your Ticket to Heaven" and do what it says. He promised to read the tract. His blood is not n my hands.

Of course you are not going to be able to do this to every person but if you make it a top priority you will find "the harvest in Plenteous" and you will have the greatest joy in all the world. MAKE THIS A TOP PRIOTIY IN 2009. ABC Sumner.

Top priority for 2009

The first priority

Thy word was found and I did eat them and they were the joy and rejoicing of my heart"

Jer. 15:16. "Desire the sincere milk of the word that ye may grow" 1 Pet. 2:2. "The entrance of thy word giveth light".

Have you fed yourself spiritually this past year? I have found reading 5 chapters daily is a good starting place. You can read many epistles in one day. You get a good balanced meal spiritually. That is my basic diet each day. Start in the N. T. and if you have had a hard time in the O. T. in the past.reading the Bible, go back and read the N. T. again. I have done that a number of times myself. It helps. It is easy to get busy and bogged down that you put reading too far down on your list. DON'T DO IT THIS YEAR. I rebound Dr. Harry A. Ironsides Bible when he pastored Moody Church with 4,000 attending. He had his Bible reading record in the back. He had just read through the Bible for the 75 th time. WOW. No wonder he was such a man of God.

Underline verses that speak to your heart, meditate on them, memorize some.

Remember, "Heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away" Mk 13:31. and "If you aim at nothing you will hit it every time."

"Happy New Year": here is how to make it happen

Wishing for it or others wishing you have the one, wont make it happen. The Lord willing I want to help us all to make it a happy new year. I don't mean to make a gob of new year's resolutions.

Setting some priorities in you life will though. God says, "Seek first"...

"Above as things." "Forgetting those things that are behind you." are a few of the admonitions to have a really happy new year.

In my 86 years of life I have found setting priorities in your life will do it. For the rest of this month, wont you think seriously and carefully about what priorities you want for the new year and lets set some.

What about listening to God as He tells un in His Word what to do. My first priority is to hear from heaven, read the Word of God. Is reading the Bible on your priority list at all? Where does it rank. Please, with me, begin a list of daily priorities for 2009. "Listen to this story. "Thy word was found and I did eat them and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart. Jer. 15:16.

Pray God will send forth laborers

A prayer list for now and the new year

 

The disciples said "Teach us to pray" and Jesus gave them a prayer list. Luke 10. "To have an effective pray life you must have a prayer list" (Sumner) Having a prayer list transformed my prayer life and many others I have shared this with. Here are some essentials to be in that prayer list.

 

1. "Give us this day our daily bread" (needs). God fed the children of Israel one day at a time. They could not store it up. Since I caught this over 30 years ago and prayed it every day, , we have not had one financial crunch or crisis.

 

2. "Hallowed be Thy name" With all the anti-Christian attacks. Pray what He said.

 

3. "Pray for kings and all in authority 1 Tim 2. (that they might be saved) and "Thy will be done on earth. Make sense?

 

4. "Pray the Lord of harvest that He will send forth laborers." With studies showing less than 5 % of Christians ever lead a soul to Christ, we must pray this. That .is why our nation is filled with anti-Christian attacks. It is our fault with so few are leading anyone to Christ when the harvest in plenteous.

 

5. "Pray, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven"

There are two parables on prayer Lk. 11 and 18. and both teach "Keep on asking" daily.

Preach the gospel to every creature

PRAISE THE LORD. God answered prayer and I got a much better car at much better price than I thought I would. THANKS for praying. ABC

 

WOW I just finished giving the gospel to over 100 people, most of who were not saved in a very easy unique way that you can use. I got over 150 emails Wednesday. I responded to everyone with this email, that I keep so I can easily copy it and reply to all of these I did not know. Here it is, copy it and reply to emails and send it. I copy it and go through all my emails and send these first. What a joy. they now have a chance to go to heaven. Try it. You and I may never hear any results but you are pleasing god and giving them a chance to go to heaven. Don't you wish someone would prayerfully wend one to your lost loved ones? Do unto others as you would...Make sense?

 

Good news! God loves you and sent the Lord Jesus to suffered and die for your sins, paid your debt in full, was buried but He rose again and was seen by hundreds. God said, If you will trust what He did to save you and receive the Lord Jesus in your heart to be your Savior too, He will give you a new birth, a brand new start in life and take you to heaven instead of you going to hell, like Satan wants you to do. Call on Him to save you right now.

So great salvation for He shall come to finish it.

So great salvation "for He shall appear without sin unto salvation He 9:28"

"It ain't over yet". Jesus is coming again to complete our salvation. He suffered and died for our sins, paid our debt in full, was buried, rose again and was seen by hundreds of people. That took care of the penalty of sin. He will come again and take us out of the presence of sin and finish our salvation. What a glorious day that will be and it may take place any minute now. All things are ready.

There will be no more death.or disease, no more sickness or sorrow. When he comes we will see Him as he is and we will be like him" 1 Jn. 3:2. My life verse.

If this does not fill you with thanksgiving, nothing else will. "In the last days men will be unthankful" 2 Tim. 3:1,2. Ten lepers were healed but only one turned to give thanks to Jesus for healing him. Jesus said, "Were there not ten cleansed, where are the nine". Have you forgotten or failed to give thanks this year? Lk 17:17 "Enter into His presence with thanksgiving" Ps.100:4. In everything give thanks for this is the will of God. 2 Thes 5:18. May you have a wonderful filled Thanksgiving. ABC Sumner

The things that accompany Salvation

It is so great because of the things that accompany salvation Heb. 6:9

God did not save us to sit, soak and sour. He did not leave us here to serve our time, to endure to the end, or to hold on for dear life. There are some wonderful things that accompany salvation.

1. Witness. The first words of the Lord Jesus in his public ministry was, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men" Matt. 4 :19. He did not say, "I will make you great disciples although we should be or great Bible students although we must be to grow from children of God to men of God or great worshippers of God although we are to worship the Lord our God with all of our hearts. The last thing Jesus said in His public ministry was "preach the gospel to every person" Mk 16:15. That would change the world dramatically for "if any man be in Christ he is a new creature"2 Cor. 5:17.

2. Works. "We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works" Eph 2:10, not because of good works 2:8,

3. The Word of God. "As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby" 1 Pet. 2:2.

4. Worship. "True worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and in truth for the Father seeketh such to worship him" Jn 4:23. Worship should lead to witnessing. Sad to say it doesn't unless the leader sets the example. Paul did, "Be ye followers of me as I am of Christ". When less than 5 % of "born again" Christians ever lead a soul to Christ something is terribly wrong. I hope you are helping to change that statistic!

God only gives out eternal salvation

For "He became the author of eternal salvation" Heb 5:9. Jesus said, "And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish..." Jn 10:28. "Beloved, now are we the sons of God" 1 Jn 3:2. Not one day we will be the sons of God but NOW are we the sons of God. We were "born of God"

"As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: (on the cross and suffer and die for all of our sins) that whoever believeth in him (and what He did to get them to heaven) should not perish but have eternal life" Jn 3:14. Remember when Jesus suffered and died for our sins, ALL of our sins were in the future, none had been committed yet. He did not die just for the sins we committed before we were saved but for all, before and after we were saved.

When my son does something wrong he does not cease to be my son. He was born my son and that can not change. He will lose fellowship and I my have to chasten him but he is still my son. So it is with God. A Christian is "born of God" and that is an eternal relationship. When we sin, it breaks our fellowship not our relationship. When we confess our sin it restores the fellowship.

"For it became him, to make the captain of our salvation perfect through sufferings" Heb 2:10. The word "Captain" in the Greek is "author", It has been my privilege to write some thirty gospel tracts. Scores of times people have said, "YOU are the author". I am absolutely a nobody but I want you to know the "author" of our salvation is really Somebody". Right?

"All things were made my Him and without Him was not anything made that was made". Jn 1. And He, the son of the living God, made, "authored' our salvation. No wonder it is so great.

"All we like sheep have gone astray, and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all" Isa. 53:6.

"He, who knew no sin, was made sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" 2 Cor 5:21.

He suffered and died for all our sins, paid the debt in full, rose again and was seen by hundreds I Cor 15:1-4. this gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes God that what He did and not what I did, will get me to heaven. Jesus authored it every bit and said, "no man takes my life from me, I lay it down" Oh what love. How can any saved person "neglect (not reject) so great salvation.

One of the reasons it is so great is that we are the "heirs of this great salvation" and angels had a lot to do with getting us to Jesus. WOW. "Are they (angels) not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation" Heb 1:14.

People often say so many things about angels. They talk about "our guardian angel" Or some say, "An angel was watching over you." Well there may more truth to that then we realize. To know how they "ministered" for us is hard to say but God said they did! And now we have become the "heirs of salvation" while millions around us are lost and wqithout hope and God headed to hell. This ought to make us fall on our face before God and worship and praise Him to no end. Doesn't this startle you and make you aware of what you have in this great salvation? Don't neglect so great salvation and here is why.

Why is it so great a salvation?

1. because your sins are all forgiven and forgotten. "I will remember them against you no more.

2. Because you are born again with a brand new life. Old things are passed away, all things are become new!

4. You are no longer a child of the devil but a child of God. You are the Kings son.

An easy way to evangelize many

Another method of evangelizing people you will never meet down here but some, through this you will meet in heaven. I make a copy of this, then open my emails that I do not know and reply with this message. Good news! God loves you and sent the Lord Jesus to suffered and die for your sins, paid your debt in full, was buried but He rose again and was seen by hundreds. A demonstration of the Spirit and power

I hope you get this, ""I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling" does that sound like a great powerful preacher? "And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing works of man's wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power"

1 Cor. 2:3,4. Learn this dear Christian and then obey God and go give the gospel to "every creature" you can and see what God will do.

I am quite weary of hearing carnal Christians trying to excuse their lack of witnessing by saying, well Sumner, that is just you. You have the gift of evangelism. Excuse me, there is no "gift of evangelism" Please read the verses about the gifts of the Spirit, such as 1 Cor. 12 and you will not find a "gift of evangelism" There is a calling to be an evangelist. I surely am not one of them. I do not take evangelistic meetings. I have flopped in evangelistic meetings. I am not an evangelist but I do the work of an evangelist and see a lot of people saved through giving the gospel like God commanded ALL Christians to do.

 

The key is to witness, preach the gospel, as Phillip did in Acts 8, one on one, in "a demonstration of the Spirit and power". 1 Cor. 2::2, 3. Any real soul-winner will tell you emphatically, "I did not do it. I just gave the gospel and the Holy Spirit did all the work of convicting, convincing, and converting". Believe me I have never taken one once of credit for any person being saved. The key is to be consciously filled with, controlled by the Holy Spirit and obey God to give the full gospel and see Him save them. The full gospel declared in 1 Cor 15:1-4 is 1. how Christ die for our SINS, 2. Was buried, 3. rose again, 4 (sadly is left out by most) and was seen by hundreds". That, (all four points) dear people, is in your Bible too. I know one reason I see many saved is that I VERY CLEARLY GIVE ALL FOUR POINTS OF THE GOSPEL. This is the only way we are going to change the world, one soul at a time. I exhort that prayer be made for Kings and all in authority

Sounds like this is to pray for the elections! Why? "That we may lead a quiet and peaceable life...' 1 Tim. 2:1-2. Don't we all want that? THEN PRAY AND PRAY AND PRAY SOME MORE

Pray for God to forgive us of our sins. 2 Chron. 7:14. If the 50 million born again Christians each led just ONE soul to Christ, we would have a very difference world the harvest in plenteous, but the LABORERS ARE FEW, VERY FEW, less than 5 % ever lead a soul to Christ. Question? How many people did you personally lead to Christ? How many did you share the gospel with so they had a chance to be saved? "To him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not to him it is SIN." Sumner, are you trying to lay a guilt on us? YES, if you did not even try to lead a soul to Christ. All for your eternal good and God's glory. Make sense?

"Blessed in the nation whose God is the Lord" PS 33:12. May it be so Wed in the USA

 

"When you fast" Jesus included fasting with praying and giving in Matt. 6

"And when you fast" Mat. 6:16. We must fast in crisis times and decisions. Jesus fasted for forty days just before he was tempted of Satan Matt 4:2. In Acts 13, the church at Antioch fasted and prayed.and while they did God called Paul and Barnabas. Pretty fruitful results. In the church I pastored, we prayed and fasted and saw over 30 people called into ministry when they had none in 30 years before. I hope your church fasts and sees such results.

Fasting is used to humble one's soul before God Ps 35:11-13, and to "chasten one's with fasting" Ps 69:10. We all need both..Daniel "Prayed unto the Lord...to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes" Dan 9:3,4. It was serious spiritual exercises in his day. God tells us " Therefore also now saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart and with fasting, and with weeping and with mourning" Joel 2:12.

THINK, if the 50 million "born again" Christians of America seriously prayed and fasted over our coming elections and future we might see God intervene and turn us back to God and His blessing. 2 Chron 7:14.

I prayed and fasted for three days last week and am fasting three days this week and will do so next week for me and our nation. Millions are also fasting. Please join, get others and let's see God intervene and He be glorified. ABC Sumner

God says, "Pray for 1. Kings, (Our President and all other "rulers", etc), 2. "all in authority" does that ever cover a lot of influential people, 3. "all men" "That we might lead a quiet and peaceable life" for God "would have all men to be saved". 1 Tim 2:1-4.

This is really URGENT. Are we living a "quiet and peaceable life"? NO, NO, NO, Do you have any idea why we are not? It is because we are not praying DAILY for ALL Kings, All in authority and ALL men and I think it must be DAILY. The devil has us hood winked and most think because once a year the church or your pastor prays for them we have really done what the Lord says. If you or your child were really ill wouldn't you want the pastor and people to pray for you DAILY and not just once? Make sense?

You pray for them to be saved. 1 Tim 2:4

You pray for "wisdom" for God says above all things ask for wisdom. It is more precious that "diamonds" and "treasures" and will keep you from "the strange woman" and the "evil man". Prov 2, 3. you must read James 1:5.

The election this week is the most important one of all of my life and maybe the history of America if God is God and we acknowledge Him as our God. We must vote for a president who is going to keep our God as God in whom we trust. Make sense?.

Urgency comes with the emergency of the world today

There is an urgency to the emergency covering the whole world right now. "Prepare to meet thy God' Amos 4:12. "If my people...will pray."

1. "Enter, EVERY DAY, into his gates with thanksgiving" Ps 100:4. Stop asking and begin thanking first. a. For your salvation, you are going to heaven instead of hell. WOW. b. for the supply of your needs c. for the source of you love, joy, peace, the Help Spirit of the living God Gal.5:22.

2. "Give me THIS DAY my daily bread", needs. God fed Israel one day at a time. They had to go get it. And He feeds us one day at a time and we are told to ASK for it, every day, do YOU? and do not take it for granted. He taught them this when they saw Him praying and asked "teach us to pray" Lk 11:1. He did and we don't. Asking for your bread EVERY DAY is the key to financial freedom.

3. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem" Do YOU?, every day? "they shall prosper that love thee" 122:6. Do you love Israel enough to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem? every day?

4. "Pray for kings (our president), all in authority" "that we might lead a quiet and peaceable life " Are we living that kind of life? Help us NO. 1 Tim 2:2,3.If you are not praying what god taught then you are part of the problem Obey God. Be live like Peter, "At thy word, I will" Lk 5:5/ Most Christians don't. How a radical atheist got saved and the dramatic results

A fantastic story how an atheist got saved

35 years ago I preached in a church and a white man was there with an Afro hair do on top and his beard. Just the whites of his eyes shone through. After the service a fine Christian girl asked me if I saw the man with all the hair. I told her I would have been blind not to. She told how she came out of a grocery store, ran into a lady, gave her a tract and led her to Christ right there in the parking lot. This man was her husband, Dale Cutlip. He was an atheist and debated atheism and would I go see him and try to lead him to Christ. I am no debater and did not want to but after she begged me, I said I would. She gave me their address. It was in the opposite side of town from me.

I planned to go Monday night but could not make it. The same happened every night until Friday night and I knew I had to go. They lived in an enormous apartment complex. It took one half hour to find them. I knocked and when Dale opened the door, I almost fainted. He had no shirt on and had an afro on top, in his beard and on his chest. I thought I was looking at the missing link. He blurted out, "preacher, what is gong on. You wont believe it." I asked him three times before he invited me in and then said, "You wont believe it, I am an atheist and when you knocked I was reading the Bible." I said, "I know what is going on, sit down. I want to tell you. I just told him the gospel, how God loves him, Christ died for his sins, paid the debt in full, rose again and was seen by hundreds of people and if he would believe God that Christ suffered and died for his sins too and receive the Lord Jesus in his heart, God would save him.

Without hesitation, he said he would. The three of us knelt in front of his couch with me in the middle. He prayed out loud with me to receive the Lord Jesus. With tears flowing he knocked me out of the way, grabbed his wife and we all wept and rejoice. He was genuinely saved. Four weeks later, I saw him at church and did not recognize him for he was shaved, clothed and in is right mind.

Today I got his prayer letter. He is an evangelist and has led thousands to Christ. He has 61 missionary affiliates in 12 countries. It is awesome what God has done with Dale. It all started with a college girl handing a lady a tract in a parking lot and led her to Christ. God would not let me get there until He had him ready, reading the Bible. O dear people the "harvest in plenteous" They are all over the place.You and I MUST get the gospel to every person and have the eternal privilege of leading people to Christ, who God has ready, to be save. Our world needs to be saved. You and I must get the gospel to more people to see our country saved. Make sense.

"Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire? "

It makes big difference here and hereafter how you live after you get saved

"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid which is Christ Jesus".1 Cor. 3:11. The foundation, the basis of our salvation, is that the Lord Jesus suffered and died four our sins, paid the debt in full, was buried, rose again and was seen by hundreds. He cried out "It is finished" and the basis, of our salvation was finished. There is nothing left for us to do to get it but to believe God and receive the Lord Jesus.You then have Jesus and He will never leave you.

"Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood , hay stubble; every man's work shall be made manifest" 1 Cor. 3:12., 13. Our works after we are saved determines our rewards in heaven. "Our works shall be revealed by fire. If a mans works abide, he shall receive a reward". There are big incentives for our works. There are five crowns mentioned in Scripture. We are not going to pile them one on top of another and strut around heaven with them BUT we will cast our crowns at Jesus feet and say, "Thou are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor" Rev. 4:11. That should be a great incentive to work for His glory after we are saved.

NOW DON'T MISS THIS.. "If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire" 1 Cor. 3:15. One of my passions is to help Christians to lay up treasures and trophies in heaven. They do not come automatically but by obeying God and working because we are saved. Make sense?

Whose righteousness is going to get you to heaven?

"Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved." (We should too. 'Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper that love Thee' [Israel] Ps 122:6.) "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God but not according to knowledge. For they are ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth" Rom 10:1.

This is powerful and answers many questions for there are multitudes, not only Jews, trying to establish their own righteousness. If you really witness you will see this over and over. Most people are trying to establish their own righteousness but "doing the best they can", "treating their fellowman right", "loving people" trying to keep the ten commandments" or "live by the golden rule".and on and on.

NO. Jesus took our sins and paid the price, He suffered and died for what we did. Now when we receive the Lord Jesus from our hearts, not give our heart to Jesus but receive Him, we receive His righteousness and that gets us to heaven.

Obstacles to witnessing- the world

"They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world and the world hearth them. we are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us: he that is not of God heareth not us" 1 Jn 4: 4, 5. "Marvel not if the world hate you" 1 Jn 3:13.

One day, a very close friend said to me, "Wemp, you are a conviction. We all know we should be witnessing but every time I get around you, you just led someone Christ and I am convicted."

We Christians are a conviction to the lost world, gulp, or should be. "Let your light so shine" Matt 5:16. Don't put it under a bushel basket"

We should be a conviction by our "light," our life and by our lips. Our life must back up our lips. Remember though that faith cometh by hearing the Gospel not by seeing a good life. "How shall they believe" without the gospel.

Second obstacle to wintessing-,You must know

Three big obstacles to witnessing- and most important to know

"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices: 2 Cor. 2:11. One of his devices is to bring doubt as he did to Eve, "Hath God said? Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden" Gen 3:1. God says to day, "Preach the gospel to every creature" Mk 16:15 and it is amazing how many Christians say, "We can't all be witness, we can't all be soul winners or "that just isn't my thing". Jesus said, "Follow me and I will MAKE you fishers of men" Mat 4:19. And because of these doubts and disobedience our world is filled with evil and evil men and getting worse by the minute.

"If our gospel be hid it is hid to them that are lost; in whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them that believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them" (and they get saved). 2 Cor. 4:3, 4. Satan not only is bringing doubt to Christians but bringing blindness to the world.

Dear child of God what is it going to be like when your children sit in school and hear all the godless teaching and godless morals being taught. I heard one of our presidential candidates has said, "We are no longer a Christian nation". "Resist the devil and he will flee from you.". Let us reclaim our country as a Christian nation. Remember Germany did nothing about the atheism and look what happened to them. Pray and preach to gospel to bring people out of darkness and into the marvelous light of the gospel of Christ.

"Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord we persuade men" we persuade them to come to Christ. and become new creatures in Christ Jesus. 2 Cor. 5:11. We are ambassadors of Christ telling them the good news, that Christ died for our sins, paid our debt in full, rose again and was seen by hundreds of people. My what good news. On hindrance to witnessing- most important to know to witness.

No. 1. THE FLESH IS WICKED.

"The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked" Jer.. 17:9. "Out of the heart proceedeth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness..." Mett 15:19. If a Christian is walking in the flesh and not walking in the spirit he is susceptible to any of the deeds of the flesh. No wonder that even preachers fall into immorality. Christian must learn to be filled and walking in the control and power of the Holy Spirit or he for sure will not witness. "Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you and ye SHALL BE WITNESSES UNTO ME. Make sense?

THE FLESH IS WEAK
"The spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak" Matt 26:41 .Almost all born again Christian's know they ought to and want to witness but the flesh is weak .There must be that conscious and total dependence on the Holy Spirit to witness effectively. I have written on being filled with the Holy Spirit over and over again. It is simple, Understand what the will of the Lord is... be not drunk with wine...but be filled with the Holy Spirit" Eph 5:17, 18. Don't be under the influence and control of wine but be under the control of the Holy Spirit. "How?" By asking. . "If we ask anything according to his will" by faith, "we know that we have it" 1 Jn 5:14-15. Or just "yield your members as instruments of righteousness unto God" Rom 6:13. and walk by faith that the Holy Spirit has control over you.

THE FLESH IS WORKING
"For the flesh lusteth (desires) against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh" Gal 5:7. Dr. Kenneth Weist a great Greek scholar says. "Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not putting gas in the tank but putting a driver behind the wheel." God wants us to depend on and trust the Holy Spirit to control us so we can witness in His power. Walking in the Spirit is a constant and conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit to control us and do what He cam to do in our lives, control us and use us to His glory. Make sense? Here is the best verse on this. Please soak it in. "The servant of the Lord must not strive ...in meekness instructing those who oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance (change their minds) to the acknowledging of the truth" 2 Tim. 2:24, 25.

"Be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you. 1 Pet. 3:15. Question? How many people have actually asked you that? Me? NOT ONE. Question 2. Has anyone ever asked you to give the gospel, the good news, to every person? YES. The Lord Jesus Himself said, "Preach the gospel to every creature" Mk 16:15. To be a soul winner and help change the world we must get off the negative platform and get on the positive ;platform, give the gospel, the good news, that Christ suffered and died for our sins, was buried, rose again and was seen by hundreds. 1 Cor 15:3-8, for "that is the power of God unto salvation" Rom 1:16.

 

Two very good Christian schools made a big deal about how they were training their students to "defend their faith." To God be the glory. I have lead hundreds to Christ in personal work, not by defending my faith but by giving them the gospel which is "the power of God unto Salvation." Please let this sink in. It will take the gloom out of witnessing and put the joy and power in your witnessing.

I was asked to go see a radical atheist. All l did was give him the gospel and God gave him repentance, he acknowledged the truth and received the Lord Jesus. He was gloriously saved and is now in full time Christian ministry. I got a letter from him today. He has lead thousands to Christ.

 

Please don't go around with intentions of "defending your faith" but go around presenting the gospel and see the glorious difference. I love YOU, ABC Sumner

Read this thrilling follow up or discipling story

Quite often I am asked, What about follow up? Most of those who ask this never win anyone to follow-up. They just want to catch me in a trap. The truth is I want to and try to follow up or disciple those I lead to Christ. As a pastor our record of discipling was very high. It is quite a task to follow up those you lead to Christ on planes, in other towns etc. Remember the D.rs Nurse who got saved a couple of weeks ago? Listen to what has happened since then

 

Today I had to see this same Dr. This nurse came in to prepare me for the D.rs visit. I would give anything if you could have been there. She was radiating with the joy of the Lord. I rejoiced with her and told her I had prayed for her everyday since she accepted Christ. She could hardly believe someone had prayed for her every day. Then she said, "That is why it all happened." She began to tell me all the changes that had been taking place in her life. This really topped the cake. She had been heavily in debt and began to tell how she has been able to pay one debt after another. Then she looked at me and said, "You did it." Dear people, please don't be carnal and think I am taking any credit. God did it but she could hardly believe I had prayed for her every day and I HAD. Do you know what? I think praying for her is a great follow up. It was working wonders in her life. Then she told about one of the receptionists for this Dr. is a Christian, heard about her getting saved and was discipling her. She got her a Bible and she was reading it. Remember Phil 1:6, "Being confident, that He which began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." That is a great promise for every soul winner especially when you cannot disciple a person. God will do it.

 

Jesus was moved with compassion when He saw the multitudes with no shepherd. We should be moved too and move toward them to get the gospel to them.

Probably the most used tract every written

I hold in my hand probably the most used tract of all time. "God's simple plan of Salvation" by Ford Porter. Over 560,000,000 in over 120 languages, that is over one half BILLION, have been given out and thousands have been saved through reading it. It was my special joy, and privilege of meeting and having lunch with Ford Porter, this dear man of God while I was on the faculty of Moody Bible Institute. He impacted my life for ever. He burned in my heart how tracts can be used by every person to get the gospel to lost people. He prayed fervently every day for his tract to be used by God and for His glory. God certainly has done that. I pray that for my tract every day. You and I can pray for and pass out tracts and see the same results today.

Robert Porter, Ford Porter's son and my dear friend wrote me and said, "Paul Ramsey is the only living incorporator of Dad's tract ministry.  We owe a great debt of gratitude to Paul.  He was my father's traveling companion to the Holy Land with a side trip to Frankfort, Germany where they met Kurt Wagner, one of the former body guards for Adolph Hitler. Hurt was saved through reading my dad's tract in the German language right after the war was over.  What a wonderful time they had together."  Kurt was the pastor of two churches in Frankfort at that time.
