Behold the Lamb of God-series on the blood of Christ

"Behold the Lamb of God (JESUS) which taketh away the sin of the world" John 1:29.

Behold His suffering, His death that paid the penalty of all of our sins. Behold His blood that washes away all the pollution of our sins. Can you sense the awesomeness of the declaration "It is finished"? Hallelujah, what a Savior.

THINK of the thousands of lambs that were slain and the blood sprinkled on the altar to picture the Lamb of God. No more lambs are slain now though for the Lamb of God was once and for all slain two thousand years ago.

"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold, from your vain conversation (behavior) by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot" 1 Peter 1:18, 19.

Now, if we who are believers, say "we have so sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" 1 John 1:8. But is we will judge ourselves, we wont be judged" wont be chastened" 1 Cor. 11:31, 32. Now then "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness" by the blood of Christ 1 John 1:9 and you are right back in fellowship with Him.

"The blood of the Lamb" Preacher, great outline

When I see the blood, I will Passover you.

The "Passover Lamb" in Ex. 12, is the most lucid picture of salvation by the blood. Notice:
1. The season
"It shall be the beginning of months...the first month of the year to you" Gen 12:2. Jesus, the lamb of God, our Passover, shedding of his blood is the beginning of life for ever believer.

2. Sinless
"Your lamb shall be without blemish" Ex 12:5. "Christ...who did no sin"; "Who knew no sin" 1 Pet. 2:21, 2 Cor. 5:21

3. The substitute...
"They shall take to them every man a lamb...a lamb for an house" vs 3. "Behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world"  John 1:29. He took our place.

4. He was slain
"The whole assembly of Israel shall kill it in the evening: Ex. 12:6. "Christ died for our sins" 1 Cor 15:4.

5.  The Suffering
"And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire" Ex. 12:8. "For Christ has once suffered for sins" 1 Peter 3:18.

6. Sprinkle
"And they shall take of the blood and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses" Ex. 12:7. "The blood of Jesus Christ, His Son cleanses us from all sin" 1 John 1:7.

7. Seen
"And when I see the blood, I will pass over you" Ex, 12:13. "Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin" Heb 9:22.

There are two things about sin. There is a penalty, "the wages of sin is death" Rom. 6:23 and there is the pollution of sin. Christ suffered and died for our sins that paid the penalty in full. He shed His blood to cleanse us from sin and that takes care of the pollution of sins.

When Adam and Eve sinned "they came to the knowledge of good and evil" Gen. 2:9. They were ashamed and "hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God" Gen 3:8. Today, so many are like those in Jeremiah's day. "Were they ashamed when they committed abomination?

Nay, there were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush" Neh.
8:12. If you are a Christian, thank God for your conscience and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. "God loves you as you are but He loves you too much to let you stay as you are."

What did they do about it? "And the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons" Gen 3:7. They tried to cover their sin and shame by the works of their own hands. The world tries to cover their sin and get to heaven by the works of their hands, but it wont do.

"Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins and clothed them" Gen 3:21. NOW, THINK WITH ME. The first death was of an animal. What animal? I think a lamb. I think God told them "the plan of salvation", the shedding of blood and the covering of the skins, the picture of being clothed in His righteousness. Remember God talked extensively with Adam and Eve and no doubt Cain and Abel.

This is amazing. "By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain" Heb. 11:4.. Where did Abel get this faith? How did he know what to offer. THINK, he did not think this up all by himself. He did not outsmart Cain. "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God" Rom 10:17. I believe he heard "the word of God" verbally from God Himself. God explained why He killed a lamb to cover his Mother and Dad, Adam and Eve. Cain also heard it but Cain like the world today, ignored what God had told them and Cain brought the works of his hands!. Abel heard God believed God and obeyed God. We must too. MORE to come.
