The Eternal Weight of Glory

"For light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal but the things which are not seen are eternal" (2 Corinthians 4:17–18).

Do you have problems? I'll bet you do; we all do. Our afflictions are really light and for just a moment, compared to eternity. If you "suffer for Jesus," they bring eternal glory that outweighs all else. Don't murmur but "In everything, give thanks" 1 Thes. 5:18.

Dear people, we must not look at our temporal, trivial trials only, but at the things of God that will make a world of difference in eternity.

Jesus asked His disciples, "Do you love me?" (John 21:15). Say it, He loves to hear it orally even as you love to hear your children say it! His love will empower you to see your problems with the proper perspective.

Prayer: Father, help us to remember that our affliction is only temporary, but Your glory is forever. Help us to stay in love with You and to tell You daily that we love You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Only One True God

There is but one God, one Creator, Lord of all, King of Kings

"I am the Lord; that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images." Isaiah 42:8.
In Chapter 44 of the book of Isaiah, God tells how a man cuts a tree, makes a fire with part of the wood and warms himself. He takes another part of the wood and puts it into the stove so he may bake bread and eat it. "And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it and worshippeth it and prayeth unto it and saith, Deliver me for thou art my god."

How totally irrational. That just does not make one ounce of sense. How could a man worship a god that he had just made with his own hands? Yet there are millions of gods invented and worshipped by men and women all over the world. How tragic!
Our God has said, "Remember the former things of old: for I am God and there is none else; I am God and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure" (Isaiah 46:9–10).

Our God is the only God—not Mohammed, Allah, Buddha, Vashti, Krishna, nor any of the cults. Ideas about salvation invented by man don't make any sense, either. Only Jesus died for man's sins, took the punishment and rose again. The Bible says, "He that believes in the Son has everlasting life" (John 3:36).

Prayer: Father, bless Your children and keep us away from the spiritual wolves who want to mislead us. May we love the Lord our God. In Jesus' name, Amen.

At Sumner Wemp's request and due to family health issues, his ministry will be transitioned to East-West Ministries as of April 6, 2009.  Both ministries see God's hand in this transition.

East-West Ministries International is committed to evangelizing, equipping and establishing grace-oriented churches in restricted-access areas of the world. Our ten year goal (from 2002-2011) is to share the Gospel with 50 million people, equip 10,000 national ministry leaders, and establish 1,000 grace-oriented churches among 100 unreached people groups.

How God works through the Holy Spirit in your daily life

When the Spirit comes, He transforms our lives and fills our life with joy. He says, Stay with Me."

God the Father

In the Old Testament days, God the Father, the Head of the Trinity, was the prominent One at work here on earth. He walked with Adam and Eve. He called and led Moses. He worked miracles.

God the Son

In the time that Christ walked the earth, God the Son, the Lord Jesus, was the prominent one. He worked miracles, called and led the disciples, and taught His people. He said, "It is finished," and died on the cross for our sins. Then He rose again, went back to heaven and "sat down at the right hand of God" (Mark 16:20). Why did Jesus sit down? He had finished the work that He had come to earth to do!

God the Holy Spirit

Soon after His resurrection, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to take up where He had left off and to take over here on earth. Today, the Holy Spirit is still at work in our lives. According to the Bible, the Spirit has over 30 specific ministries to believers. But you know what? We keep asking the Lord Jesus to do what He sent the Holy Spirit to do.

People ask the Lord Jesus to lead them, but the Bible says that we are "led by the Spirit" (Romans 8:14). People ask the Lord Jesus to comfort them, but He said, "I will pray to the Father and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever" (John 14:16). It will totally transformed your life if you catch this principle and let the Holy Spirit do in your life what He came to do.

Learning how to walk daily in the Spirit is the greatest need of Christians today. The fruit of the Spirit is love, and you can have all you want!

Prayer: Amazing Father, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to do all of these wonderful things in our lives. Teach us what He came to do. May we let Him work in our lives and be filled with Your joy and purpose. In Jesus' name,  Amen.
