Be Thankful let the Holy Spirit Flow Through You

Be thankful, let the Holy Spirit flow through YOU

The Holy Spirit will reprove of sin Not only should we be thankful the Father chose us and the Son was crucified, died for our sins but we should be thankful the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins so we see the need of salvation. "And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment " John 16:8.

No fear of God
"THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE" and "THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES" Rom. 3:10, 18. If you think about it, those facts will just blow your mind. We were like that, weren't we?

Their heart was pricked through preaching "Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?" Acts 2:37. They responded gladly and "there were added unto them about three thousand souls." The key to all of this was that the preachers were "filled with the Holy Spirit." There is no greater joy in all of this world, than to preach in the power of the Holy Spirit, see people convicted and converted right before you very eyes.

Was I ever convicted
When Gene Gaskins took me to church in March of 1940, the pastor, Pat Wimberly, preached and I thought sure Gene had told him all about me. It seemed he named my sins one after another and knew all about me, I was so convicted I wanted to clobber Gene. Thank God I went back. Word spread all over the church that I was not saved and all the people were praying I would get saved. Three weeks later, under such conviction, I thought I was going to die, I went forward at the invitation to get saved. Pat Wimberly, told me the gospel again and prayed with me. I believed Jesus died for my sins and rose again and God saved me and changed my life forever.

I miss being a pastor
To God be the glory, we saw people convicted and converted almost every week. Our people witnessed, brought people to church, people prayed like mad and people got saved. That dear people, is New Testament Christianity and the way it ought to be in every church today. My prayer and passion was like John Knox who prayed "Give me Scotland or I die." I prayed for my town, where I pastored, just like that and God answered.

We all need a DD degree
It is 5 a.m. right now and God just gave me this. There is much written and talked about having a "designated driver." Every Christian needs a D. D., a "designated driver" all the time. The Holy Spirit is the "designated driver" given by God, "Be filled with the Holy Spirit" Eph. 5:18. Christians must "Walk in the Spirit" Gal. 5:a6. We must put the Holy Spirit in the driver's seat of our lives, ALL THE TIME, by asking Him to control us, to get in the drivers seat. How? "And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him" 1 John 5:15; Eph. 5:17,18. That dear people is how you "walk by faith" and "walk in the Spirit." "I will do as you say" Luke 5:5. Now do it, live that way every day. "Be thankful" for the Holy Spirit. He is so vital to the Christian life.

Prayer:  Father, thank You for giving the Holy Spirit to convict us, convert us and control us. In Jesus name. Amen and Amen.

Good News: Be Thankful!

The good news is "Christ died for our sins, rose again and was seen by hundreds" 1 Cor. 15:1-4. "For Christ also died for sins once for all " 1 Peter 3:18. "and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross" 1 Peter 2:24. "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him " 2 Cor. 5:21.

And they crucified Him
"They dressed Him up in purple, and after twisting a crown of thorns, they put it on Him; and they began to acclaim Him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" Mark 15:17. 18. "And they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?" And they were saying many other things against Him, blaspheming" Luke 22:64, 65. Isaiah sums it up saying, "So His appearance was marred more than any man. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth " Isa. 52:14; 53:7.

Why have you forsaken me
The Son of the Living God took all the physical suffering and never moaned or groaned once, but when "the Lord laid on him the iniquity of us all" He cried out, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?" Mark 15:34.

He took my place
There is but one answer, He took my place and suffered and died for my sins, paid the eternal debt of my sins in full. Question? Did He die for YOUR sins? Did He pay your debt in full? Then THANK HIM. I find it keeps my heart warm and filled with joy to thank Him daily for dying for my sins. That is why the Lord's supper is so special as we "remember" his death and "proclaim His death, until He comes" 1 Cor. 11

Oh dear people, my all time favorite song is "When I survey the wondrous cross, on which the prince of glory died, My richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride" and that last verse, "Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far to small. Love so amazing so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all." Doesn't that make sense?

Be thankful for the Lord Jesus suffering and dying for our sins, paying our debt in full and rising from the dead so He can now be our personal Savior and we can be forgiven of our sins. Isn't that awesome and amazing grace? Now that is BIG NEWS!

Prayer:  Father, Thank you that You chose us and thank You that the Lord Jesus suffered and died for our sins and we are saved by receiving Him as our savior. In Jesus name.

Who Started CHRISTmas

Who started Christmas

A woman who was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.

Finally the elevator doors opened and there was already a crowd in the car. She pushed her way into the car and dragged her two kids in with her and all the bags of stuff. When the doors closed she couldn't take it anymore and stated, "Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot."

From the back of the car everyone heard a quiet calm voice respond, "Don't worry we already crucified him." For the rest of the trip down the elevator it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

"But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart" Lk 2:19.

O dear people, ponder this illustration, ponder what is happening to Christmas. Christ is almost completely left out. It is now a holiday, not a HOLYday. Ponder what is happening to God in the whole world. In America we are about to see freedom FROM religion not freedom OF religion. Wake up world! All this is all the more reason we must study prophecy and read the "signs."

Prayer:  Father, bless your people and help us to be people who have "understanding of the times." Prepare us for the new year and may we make godly resolutions that will make a difference in eternity. In Jesus name.

God Chose You Be thankful for it

God chose you: be thankful for it

Most of the time we pray for Joe's toe, Jack's back and Jane's pains and do not pray for the big or eternal things God told us to pray for.

We can easily do the same things about giving thanks. We thank the Lord for our food and material things and do not thank Him for some of the big or eternal things.

God chose you
"Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him In love " Eph. 1:4. Now that is awesome. Don't get side tracked and debate election or predestination or the sovereignty of God just thank God the Father that He chose you out of the six and one half billion people in this world. Isn't that staggering? Thank God He chose you!

He drew you
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him" John 6:44. WOW, not only did the Father choose you but He drew you. "THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS,THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD " Rom. 3:11. God takes the initiative. No one goes around seeking God until God begins to draw him. When does He begin to draw you? On a Tuesday morning, at 4 a. m. Gene Gaskins asked me to go to church with him the next Sunday. By the time Sunday came I was so eager to go to church I could hardly wait. God was drawing me.

In sixty years of ministry
During these years of ministry, I have seen, God begins to draw people when we begin to witness to them and/or bring them to church. We are to get the gospel to people, Mk 16:15, and we are to get people to the gospel, Luke 14:23. That is how we change the world!

You could be without God
You could have been born some place where they have never heard the gospel. But for the grace of God you could be a drunkard or a drug addict. You could be lost, without God and without hope in this present evil world. Give thanks if your are saved.

Think about it
Meditate on it, dwell on it until it becomes overwhelming and give thanks to the Father, that He did choose you and drew you. This is big! Doesn't that make sense?

Prayer:  Father, we are thankful You did choose us and drew us until we heard Christ died for our sins paid our debt and rose again and we received Him and were born again. Help, those reading this to be thankful for this wonderful truth, in Jesus name.

Be Ye Thankful

Signs of the last days
Major signs of the last days, "Men began to multiply on the face of the land, (population explosion) "sexual perversion," "The earth filled with violence," "Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually" have you watched TV lately? Gen. 6:1-5. "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be…ungrateful" 2 Tim. 3:1-2. Now this, "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness...For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened" Rom 1:18-21.

A series on prophesy
For years I preached a lot on and taught prophesy in college. Following my Bible teacher in college, I have a large beautiful colored chart on prophesy. Then, I started out as a draftsman and worked for the U. S. Engineers as a draftsman and planned to go into engineering. Using my draftsman skills, I drew up a chart on prophesy with most of the major passages of Scripture on prophesy.  The Lord willing, I will put this all on email along with the chart for your use. You will love this series sometime in the future. It will be very enlightening and open many truths in the Bible for you.

Two warnings
One, unthankfulness is a major sign of the last days. It should be a wake up call to every believer to wake up before we ship out.

Two, we have the record in Romans one that "God gave them up" for their unthankfulness and the awful things it led men to do. How we need to heed the admonition, "Prepare to meet Thy God" Amos 4:12.

Oh, dear people, be thankful. God has been extremely good to you if you are saved and going to heaven. The consequences are extremely bad for you if you are not thankful.

Prayer:  Father, forgive us for our unthankfulness. Wake us up to be thankful people.

Stay tuned as we look at some things we need to be thankful for that we often forget about and let's be thankful for the major things. All because of Calvary, sumner

Being Thankful

Last Saturday, it was obvious that Celeste wasn't in the mood to fix dinner so I said, "Let's go out to eat." I never have to beg her. I always gain ten points when I take her out to eat. As we were paying the bill someone mentioned thankfulness and a lady said, "Oh, this is the season to be thankful." I could not help it and said, graciously, "Kind lady, every season is the time to be thankful." She caught it and said, "You are right."

After this short group of devotionals on being thankful I will go back to the series on marriage. For now, are you still making yourself attractive to your husband, your wife like you did when you were dating? SERIOUSLY think about it and make your self attractive like you did then. It is essential for a really happy marriage.

In Luke 17:11-19 is the greatest account about being thankful. As Jesus was entering that wicked city, Samaria, I have been there and you can feel the oppressive power of Satan and evil to this day, "There met him ten men that were lepers. And they lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cleansed. And ONE of them when he saw that he was healed turned back, fell down on his face at the feet of Jesus giving him thanks (and he was a Samaritan)." Wouldn't you have done the same?

Where are the nine?
"Then Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine--where are they?" Dear people, this is incomprehensible! Leprosy was worse than AIDS. There was no hope. They would live in misery and die in agony. Only one-tenth thanked him for being healed.

Unthankfulness a major sign
We are living in a world that is unthankful. Unthankfulness is a MAJOR sign of the last days. "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be…ungrateful" 2 Tim. 3:1-2.

Give thanks
"In everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" 1 Thes. 5:18. See, this is not just my desire but it is God's desire, His will, for you. My desire, my passion is that through this series we all will be more thankful, all the time. Tell someone, call someone, write someone and thank them for being your friend or something they have done to you or for you.

Prayer:  Father, you are so good to us everyday. Help us to be thankful and say thank you to You and to our friends and our family. In Jesus name.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Thanks be to God:Allah or Jehovah?

"Thanks be to God"
Recently I saw a cartoon on an editorial page in which the question
was asked, "Who is God, the Israeli God, Jehovah or the Muslim God,
Allah?" The cartoon was of Allah and he answered, "We are the same." I
shouted, "No" a thousand times "No." This is not a hate of Muslims. I
have some very dear friends who are Muslim and I love them.

There is no other God
"Is there any God besides Me, Or is there any other Rock? I know of
none" Isa. 44:8. If there were another living eternal God, Jehovah,
"the eternal God" Deut. 33:27 would have known him. Doesn't that make
sense? "I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no
God " Isa. 45:5. "For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (He
is the God who formed the earth and made it, He established it and did
not create it a waste place, but formed it to be inhabited), "I am the
LORD, and there is none else" Isa 45:18. See Isaiah 43-46 for verse
after verse which states "there is no other God, I know not any."
There is such a vast difference in Allah and God. Allah says, "Give
your son to die for me to go to heaven, God gave His Son to die for
our sins so we can go to heaven.

India's 300 million gods
India has 300 million gods who are worshipped by the billion people
there. Who of them can claim they created the heavens and the earth?
Who of all the gods of all religions has a just plan for the
forgiveness of man's sins against God and humanity. Only Jehovah, the
God of the Bible, has a perfect plan.

Oh, dear people, give thanks that God opened your eyes to know the
true and living God and His Son the Lord Jesus who paid our debt of
sins. Doesn't that make sense?

Father, thank You that You opened our eyes and we know You and have
forgiven of our sins, Help us to love You with all of our hearts. in
Jesus name.  If you have not prayed to accept Jesus Christ as your
Lord and Savior please contact us (Info@eastwest.org) or talk to a

Time Out!!!!

Time Out!!!!
From the writings of Sumner Wemp
Dec 14, 2009

TIME OUT!

Someone sent me this and it really has a lot of wisdom that we all need and can use. Hope you like it.

Ways of Wisdom in Practical Living
Life is like a journey along an unknown stretch of highway; full of dangerous curves and various paths that can be followed. In the book of Proverbs the Father has provided His children a "road map," explaining the proper ways to follow and pointing out the dangers in "taking the wrong way!" Neither time nor space permit a detailed examination of the different topics presented in Proverbs, but here is a sample and you can expand these! (For a helpful listing of topics in Proverbs, see Allen P. Ross, "Proverbs," The Expositor´s Bible Commentary, 5:897-903.

"Father knows best!" "My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart" (Prov. 4:20-21). "My son, keep my words And treasure my commandments within you. Keep my commandments and live,  And my teaching as the apple of your eye" (Prov. 7:1-2). "Listen to your father who begot you, And do not despise your mother when she is old" (Prov. 23:22). THE WAY YOU VIEW YOUR PARENTS IS A WAY OF WORSHIP!

"Work wisely ... Waste no Time!"  "Being diligent in working" and "being lazy" are often contrasting subjects which are dealt with in the book of Proverbs. "Go to the ant, you sluggard ("sluggard" = "to be idle," "to delay;" "lazy-bones; "In all labor there is profit, But mere talk leads only to poverty" (Prov. 14:23). If  it is house work, work at the job, studies at school, or whatever you do! THE WAY YOU WORK IS A WAY OF WORSHIP!

"Temper, Temper!!" "An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one  commits many sins" (Prov. 29:22). "A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty man is hated" (Prov. 16:17). WHEN WE CONTROL OUR ANGER, IT IS A WAY OF WORSHIP!

"Hold your Tongue!" "The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence" (Prov. 10:11). "When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise" (Prov. 10:19)."He who despises his neighbor lacks sense,But a man of understanding keeps silent. He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy conceals a matter" (Prov. 11:12-13). "There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, But the tongue of the wise brings healing" (Prov. 12:18). "A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise makes knowledge acceptable, But the mouth of fools spouts folly" (Prov. 15:1-2). "Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent" (Prov. 17:28). WHEN WE CONTROL OUR TONGUE, IT IS A WAY OF WORSHIP!

Oh, dear people, we all need to have our pure minds stirred up by way of remembrance. 2 Peter 3:1.
Remember this, God loves you. Jesus suffered and died for your sins so you can be forgiven by a Holy God. The Holy Spirit lives in you, don't embarrass Him or hurt Him by any big or small sin.

Best Communication

Paul asked Jesus a phenomenal question. So he, trembling and astonished, said,"Lord, what do You want me to do?" (Acts 9:6). It just struck me that is a phenomenal question for husbands and wives to ask each other. Simply say, "Honey, what do you want me to do?"

Then, Jesus made a phenomenal statement. "I always do the things that are pleasing to Him" John 8:29. How wonderful it would be if each of us could and would say that about our Father. Then it struck me again, wouldn't it be wonderful, if each of us could and would say it about our spouses!  What a blessing and example of Christ and the Church we could be by making this scripture a part of our life.

DON'T MISS THIS
Seriously, this may be one of the most profound thoughts I have ever had about marriage or ANYTHING for that matter. "You, kind sir, the leader in the home, Ask your wife, ' Sweetheart, what are the five most important ways I could please you by giving you my personal attention?' "And you dear lady, ask your husband, ' Honey, what are the five most important ways I could please you by showing you my admiration?'" Each of you, spell it out. Write it down. Now this is real communication and essential for a healthy and happy marriage.

I ask each of to make the above scriptures a part of your life and marriage.  Now take the time to think this through and make a list, of things that really would please you and make you love your husband or wife like you did when you were courting. IT CAN BE DONE and it will work if you will genuinely work at it.

Additionally, I challenge you to be the husbands and wives we are commanded to be in the Bible (Holy Word of God) and develop a marriage based on God not on our wants and needs.  With our focus on following God and being the best spouse biblically we can be we will all stand out as great witnesses to those around us.

Dear people, life is too short and eternity is too long to neglect each other and miss the joy you should have in your relationship to each other here and the joy God will give you as you "please Him" by doing what you ought to be doing in your marriage. DOESN'T THAT MAKE SENSE? Of course it does. PLEASE give this serious consideration and then DO IT. THEN write me and tell me what you come up with and what you do about it.  info@eastwest.org

Understand your Wife

Did you hear about the man in California who had a Genie appear to him and said, "I will give you one request, tell me what you want." The man said, "Build me a highway to Hawaii so I can just drive there when I want." The Genie said, that is too materialistic, give me another request." The man thought and said, "Women have their weeping spells, get so moody, you just don't understand them. Let me understand women.' The Genie came back and said, "Do you want that to be two lanes or four lanes?"

"If a man thinks for one minute he can understand a woman he has timed it just about right." Have you seen the book entitled, "What men know about women?" You open it and it is totally blank. The way some men act, you would think they wrote the book!

Why do women have their weeping spells? Often it is simply their way of getting attention. Why do some women dress so provocative, so outrageous? They need attention and many, without good morals, will attract the attention of men through provocative dress and behavior.

Here is a good tip
A woman buys a new dress, she models it before her husband and asks , "How do you like it." He just grunts a little and she is crushed. She bought it thinking he will like it and notice her. He blew it. She may never wear it again. I have seen this happen. Here is how you can save a ton of money. When your wife comes out in that blue dress, notice her, rave about how beautiful she looks. Then when she wears another dress, rave about that dress and how beautiful she looks in it. That is all the dresses she will need!

Light up your eyes.   Men ought to go shopping with their wives to buy a dress. I do it. You see, I want to help her pick out a dress that is going to attract my attention, light up my eyes. You need to do the same. It really makes a difference. Doesn't that make sense?

Kind sir
Notice you wife. Give her you precious attention. You provide for her every material need. Here is a much greater need of women and only you can provide this need to make you marriage wonderful. Every thing begins with a decision. Make that decision to make you wife the most attractive women you ever saw.

You are the head of the home, the leader, not driver! You lead the way. Be the man, be the husband God wants you to be to your wife. It matters not how well she responds. Women respond and follow their husbands a thousand times quicker than men respond to their wives. In heaven, you will be so glad you did.

Father, bless Your man and make him the Spiritual leader and lover of his wife that will make a world of difference here and in heaven. In Jesus name.

Why should we go to Heaven

Tonight while filling my car with gas, a fellow next to me was very friendly and we began talking. The conversation led easily for me to ask him if knew for sure he was going to heaven. "Of course I do" he said smilingly. Then I asked, "If you went up to gates of heaven and they asked you, why should we let you into heaven, what would you say." It is amazing how tongue tied people get when asked that.

The devils believe in God
Finally he said, "I believe." When I pointed out the devils believe in God and tremble, he could not tell me what he believed. By now I had that sick feeling in my stomach. I have seen it so many times that people really don't have a clue as to how to go to heaven.

The Evangecube says it all
As I presented the gospel with the cube and told him how the Lord Jesus suffered and died for our sins and rose again, he listened intently and thought it was cute. His finally statement was, "O I believe all of that." My stomach churned even more.

Many will say
"Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' " Matt. 7:22,23. How terrible, how tragic to wake up to late and find you are lost forever.

A different story
Saturday I present the same gospel with the same cube and a sharp man understood his works and good deeds would not get him into heaven and prayed with me to receive the Lord Jesus and had assurance he was saved.

What is your answer
Why does God forgive us of our sins? ONLY because the Lord Jesus suffered and died for our sins, paid our debt in full and rose again. Until a person understands that and trust what Christ did and not what he does to get him to heaven, he will hear those horrible words, "Depart from me I never knew you."

If you are not sure
You made a "profession" when you were a child maybe but did not really "understand" Matt 13:23, but you do now, why don't you bow your head and tell God you believe on the Lord Jesus as your savior, that He died for your sins so God can forgive you, save you and take you to heaven one day. Write and tell me about it.

Butter up Your Man

A BIG difference between a man and a woman is that men see the over all picture, women notice the little details. That is one reason, most of the time women make better secretaries, for they note the details.

Have you noticed?
Often, Celeste and I notice a husband is telling an incident and will say, "Last Tuesday about 3 o'clock..." His wife interrupts and says, "No, dear it was Monday and it was 2 o'clock." Often you can see the fire in his eyes as he is corrected and embarrassed by his wife. Of course she does not intend to hurt him but she is wired to get the details correct. First of all, what difference does it make whether it was 2 or 3 o'clock. THAT IS A NO NO. Ladies don't do it. It is so common and most men resent it.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander By the way, a husband should not correct his dear wife in front of others either. God says, "Be kind and compassionate to one another" Eph. 4:32. "We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check" James 3:2.

Butter him up
Let's "encourage one another" Heb. 3:13, let's build one another up and not beat one another down. Ladies, admire him, brag on him and he will become your prince in shining armor! By the way, you will become the envy of every man who wishes his wife admired him.

This just fits here again.
"As you go through life you are going to have many opportunities to keep your mouth shut. Take advantage of all of them."  "Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue" Prov 17:28

Prayer:  Father, help our dear wives to build us weak husbands up so we will love them more and pay more attention to them. In Jesus name.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice" Phil 4:4 For, "A cheerful heart is good medicine," "but the cheerful heart has a continual feast," "A happy heart makes the face cheerful " Prov. 17:22; 15:15; 13.

Do you notice your Wife

"I really loved reading this about what women need and want. You are right. We like to be noticed.   I put all my efforts into looking nice for my husband and he rarely says anything or notices any difference."

Kind sir, wake up and smell the roses. Is this your wife? She is starved to death for YOUR attention, for you to notice her, compliment her, cuddle her, touch her with that tender touch that speaks volumes.

A wife fixes her husbands favorite meal. He tears himself away from the TV gobbles down his meal and rushes right back to the TV without one word of thanks or appreciation. Even a pig stops to grunt. Then he wonders why she is unresponsive to him at night. Come on men, get your head out of the sand and pay attention to your dear wife who gave herself, body and soul, to become your wife.

Some men say, "I am not made that way." Well, you had better make yourself that way. Your wife was not "made that way" to give her body to you but you expect her to do so. Now get rid of selfishness and give your wife the attention she longs for and looks for from you.

Celeste and I ate dinner in a dear Christian couples home. We commented on the wonderful meal the lady had cooked. Her husband piped up and said, "My wife is the kind of a cook her mother always tried to be." That was an A + compliment. A lady told me that after every meal her husband always thanks her for the meal, tells her how wonderful it was and then gets up, gives her a kiss and says, "I love you." I doubt either man was "made that way" but they learned to hit a home run, and you can too.

Prayer:  Father, help us men to get rid of the male ego and give our wives the active attention they desire and deserve. In Jesus name.

Tell the Good News Today

Someone has said, "He that wins the world series is like trivia pursuit COMEPARED to he that wins souls to Christ." Great thought.

Someone else said, "He that wins souls is wise but he that does not win souls is foolish."

You will cross paths with someone who desperately needs to hear that God loves them and Christ died for their sins and rose again so they could be forgiven and go to heaven.

Will you tell them as God asked you to do?

Aren't you glad someone told you this good news and you are going to heaven instead of hell?
Give someone else a chance to become a new creature today.

Prayer:  Father use the one reading this to win someone to Christ today, in Jesus name.

A Man without Honor in His Own House!

"Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in
his own house is a prophet without honor" Mark 6:4.

As I meditated on this verse it hit me how too often a man, a husband,
a father, is not honored or safe in his own house and among his own
kin.

To whom honor is due
"Marriage is honorable" Heb 13:4. We are to "honor all men" and to
"honor the king" 1 Peter 2:17. "Children are to "honor thy father and
mother" Mark 10:17. A man is to "give honor to his wife" 1 Peter 3:7.
"Give everyone what you owe him: if honor, then honor " Rom 13:7.

LOOK for things to admire
One of you wrote me, "Thank you for this message. I need this and more
than I know. I realize that the Bible tells me that I am to respect my
husband but have been finding this very difficult for good reason.
Thank you for helping me to remember to LOOK for things to admire (O
dear people, this is the KEY, LOOK FOR THINGS TO ADMIRE AND TELL HIM
SO, sumner). Bless you for your words of encouragement."

A man I mentored, rose like a meteor to become Vice President of a
corporation. He was admired and praised by all in the business, Sadly,
at home his wife noted all of his faults and reminded him of
everything. No wonder he became attracted to a lady at the office who
admired him and showed it (We do not condone a man to cheat on his
wife for any reason). He was starved for admiration and MOST MEN ARE!

O dear ladies, you know how to hornswaggle your husband, how to make
him putty in your hand, how to become the queen on the throne at home.
Charles Swab, who was known for his leadership in the business world,
when asked his secret, he said, "Be lavish with your praise." Dear
lady, try that on your husband and see a miracle right before your
eyes. You learn this key and use it and it will transform your
marriage.

YOU and I must stop quibbling about what our spouses do and begin
doing our part and what we know to do to bring real happiness and
harmony in our marriages. Now, doesn't that make sense?

How wives get the ATTENTION and men get the ADMIRATION in the next
email. Don't miss it. It will transform your living and marriage.

What Women need and Want

Men need and want ADMIRATION. See Friday's email. Women need and want ATTENTION. Someone sent me a book entitled "What men know about women?" You guessed it, it was totally blank, NOTHING. Someone said if a man thinks for one minute he can understand women he has timed it just about right!

Why women do it

There is a valid reason women have their weeping spells, spend so much time shopping, fixing their hair, changing the furniture around and a thousand other things characteristic of women. Women need attention. God wired them that way. They will do anything in the world to get attention (more on this later). If we men every realize that and feed them the right kind of attention it can transform the relationship and marriage.

Her hair do

Here is a woman, she goes to the beauty parlor, gets her hair washed, rolled up in those rat tails (curlers), sits under the hair dryer. The operator spend hours, it seems, fixing her hair. She comes home and her husband never notices. Finally she asks, "How do you like my new hair do." He hasn't slipped, he slupped. Than he makes a quick glance and says casually, "It looks fine" or some other casual remark and she begins to bawl. The smart husband will stop everything and rave about her hair and how beautiful she is. That will get him a few hundred points that night.

Husbands are to "cherish" their wives Eph. 5:29. That means to give her TLC, tender loving care, and that includes noticing her, giving her attention.

Notice your wife

Husbands notice you wife, her dress, her shoes, her makeup, any thing new and PAY ATTENTION by giving her the compliments she deserves and desires. More on this and examples of what to do. Next time I am going to tell you how to save tons of money if you will do this one simple thing.

Prayer:  Father, help us men to understand our wives and notice them, pay attention to the hundreds of signs that they need our attention. In Jesus name

Women! What Men desperately Need.

"If any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives" 1 Peter 3:1. "Likewise, husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge" 3:7. That goes for women as well to dwell with their husbands according to knowledge. Here is something every wife needs to know about men, their husband.

Men need admiration

Why is it that most men marry women who are shorter than they are, younger than they are? A man needs a woman to look up to him, not just physically but in every way. If women catch on to this and do it, they will wrap their man around their little finger forever.

Men have inferiority complexes

MOST men have an inferiority complex. Deep down inside very few men have a superiority complex. Over the past 13 years, I have mentored over 300 pastors, missionaries, evangelists and business men for various lengths of time. ALL of them need encouragement and admiration, believe me. I DO! Women need "attention" more on that next week.

The demands on husbands

Today, the world is success oriented. If a man doesn't own two cars, a boat and climbing the ladder of success, he can feel a failure deep down inside. He needs to know his wife admires him no matter what.

The reason he hangs out...

Men hang out with men who accept them, who admire them. Believe me, if he gets the admiration of his wife and children he wont need those men he hangs out with nearly as much. Oh, dear wife, learn this. Look at his good points and strengths. Brag on him and rave about his good points. Let him know he is the greatest guy in the world in your eyes. If he isn't, you had better magnify his good points until you feel that way about him and lo and behold he will act like the best and become the best just for you. Doesn't that make sense? Most husbands will become what you think of them to be. THINK on this. It is a powerful truth. Oh, my, the influence you have over your husband.

Dear people, almost daily I am getting emails about marriages that are in trouble or breaking up right now. Happy marriages don't happen, they are worked at. Do it dear people, do it.

Prayer:  Father give this husband and wife knowledge to know what each other needs to make their marriage filled with joy and Your purpose for them. In Jesus name

A Letter from God to Women

LETTER FROM GOD TO WOMEN

When I created the heavens and the earth, I spoke them into being. When I created man, I formed him and breathed life into his nostrils. But you, woman, I fashioned after I breathed the breath of life into man because your nostrils are too delicate. I allowed a deep sleep to come over him so I could patiently and perfectly fashion you. Man was put to sleep so that he could not interfere with the creativity. From one bone, I fashioned you. I chose the bone that protects man's life. I chose the rib, which protects his heart and lungs and supports him, as you are meant to do. Around this one bone, I shaped you..... I modeled you. I created you perfectly and beautifully. Your characteristics are as the rib, strong yet delicate and fragile. You provide protection for the most delicate organ in man, his heart. His heart is the center of his being; his lungs hold the breath of life. The rib cage will allow itself to be broken before it will allow damage to the heart. Support man as the rib cage supports the body. You were not taken from his feet, to be under him, nor were you taken from his head, to be above him. You were taken from his side, to stand beside him and be held close to his side. You are my perfect angel.....You are my beautiful little girl. You have grown to be a splendid woman of excellence, and my eyes fill when I see the virtues in your heart. Your eyes......don't change them. Your lips -- how lovely when they part in prayer. Your nose, so perfect in form. Your hands so gentle to touch. I've caressed your face in your deepest sleep. I've held your heart close to mine. Of all that lives and breathes, you are most like me. Adam walked with me in the cool of the day, yet he was lonely. He could not see me or touch me. He could only feel me. So everything I wanted Adam to share and experience with me, I fashioned in you; my holiness, my strength, my purity, my love, my protection and support. You are special because you are an extension of me. Man represents my image, woman my emotions. Together, you represent the totality of God. So man......treat women well. Love her, respect her, for she is fragile.

The struggles of the Tongue

The tongue, set on fire of hell or heaven?

"Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness" James 3:13-18.

"As you go through life you are going to have many opportunities to keep your mouth shut. Take advantage of all of them." - James Dent.

"Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue " Prov. 17:28

The tongue set of fire of heaven

"They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them" Acts 2:3. You know the rest of the story, they preached the gospel and 3000 people were saved Acts 2:41. Then the Lord "added to the church daily" 2:47. THIS IS NORMAL and we should see it today! Later "they filled Jerusalem with their doctrine" 5:28 and finally it was said, "These men who have caused trouble all over the world have now come here" 17:6.

Lay people did it!
"All except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria"8:1. "Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went" 8:4.

The early Christians gathered to worship and scattered to witness. If all the "worshippers" on Sunday would "witness" on Monday we could turn the world right side up today. We have worship centers, worship houses, worship services, worship songs, worship leaders and rightly so but WHERE OH WHERE ARE THE WITNESSES? Did you worship on Sunday? Did you witness on Monday? I did not make up the rules. Jesus said, "Preach the gospel to EVERY creature (person). Let's do it and turn our world around for our good and God's glory.

Prayer: Father, forgive us for not obeying You. Help us to give every person a chance to go to heaven by graciously giving them a tract or the good news verbally. In Jesus name. YOU are loved, Calvary proves it. sumner

Husband Part 2

H. Holy in conduct

U. Understanding in relationship with his wife.

S. Sound in judgment

B. Bold (not brash) and clear in communication "Then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD" Josh 24:15. My wife and our children never wondered if we were going to church on Sunday or Wednesday. We all knew "He is Lord" and we serve Him. "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching" Heb. 10:25. It is just the sensible and scriptural thing to do.

A. Ability to provide for his own. "But if anyone dows not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever" 1 Timothy 5:8. Of course there can be exceptions when a man has been injured or physically unable for some reason.

The man who squanders his money on drinks, drugs or debauchery of any kind ought to be terribly ashamed of himself. He promised God almighty to take care of her until death do us part. Now do it.

N. Noble in character.
"In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us" Titus 2:7,8.

With these characteristics, it is not hard for a family to follow this husband.

D. Dependable
"Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful" 1 Cor. 4:2. Men, you and I are stewards of our selves, our possessions and our families. Being the head of your wife and family not only gives you great privileges but great responsibilities. That dear wife God gave you had so much dependence in you to leave her father and mother and give herself, body and soul, to you. That precious child God gave you has such trust in you. "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life." Rev. 2:10. Kind sir, that will be worth a jillion times more than the Heisman trophy or super bowl ring. You don't have to be a superman to gain this trophy, just a faithful man.

Prayer:  Father, help us husbands to earn the love and respect of our own families above all else. In Jesus name. All because of Calvary, sumner

Wives

W.I.F.E. She is something. Meet her here.

W. Wise in communication.

"She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue" Pro. 31:26. "The wise woman builds her house" Pro. 14:1. The house is the wife's palace. She should have the biggest input as to the house, the kind of house, rooms etc. "But she builds it," makes it a home. "but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down"

" Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion" Pro 11:22.

I. Innocent in conduct.

"Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight" 1 Peter 3:4. What a beautiful lady she is. GOD THINKS SO! AND SO DO MEN!

F. Faithful in companionship.

The aged women "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God" Titus 2:3-5. "Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.  She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life." Pro. 31:11,12. "But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband" 1 Cor. 7:34.

E. Excellent in Character

"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies" Pro. 31:10. "In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything" 1 Tim. 3:11. " Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good " Titus 2:3.

Dear wife, you are special. You have so much power and influence for good. For the most part, men will treat you like to command in your behavior, appearance and character.

Prayer:  Father bless our dear wives and use them greatly to help turn our world back to sanity, decency and honor. In Jesus name. All because of Calvary, sumner

Rule #2 of Marriage

Keep courting, DATING, after you get married.

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 7:14a

"The Christian husband brings holiness to his marriage" Five suggestions for men to encourage time, dating, with his wife:

1. A marriage relationship is dynamic and always changing. Stay in tune by dating and learning what is new,

2. Create a safe environment to discuss the adventures of life while on a date. Stay clear of walls and discuss positive and kind topics.

3. Plan for the future. Dare to dream! Take time on a date to share what you want the future to look like. Make a plan.

4. Dating started your relationship with a one on one alone time  --- use dating to build your relationship to the next level of intimacy and block the pull of the world from your relationship.

5. All cars need regular maintenance. Gas, oil changes, tire work etc. The more you maintain your car the better it performs. Marriage is like that and dating is the maintenance for marriage. The more dating or marriage maintenance you do the better the performance of the relationship. Doesn't that make sense?

Women will work ten times harder to make the marriage work. Come on men, you are the "leader" in the home. God said so! "Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God" 1 Cor. 11:3. Lead your marriage to the shop, go on a date, and have it serviced. Do these five things. You will be glad you did.

Prayer:  Father, bless this man of God and may he lead his family to a marriage filled with love, joy and peace, for his good and Your glory. In Jesus name.

Scripture:  "Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God" Rom. 11:33.

More on Marriage

"You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine: Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children" Titus 2:1-4.

Love your husband
The word "love" is Philos, it is friendship love, you should be the BEST FRIEND HE HAS. Sumner, do you mean young women need to be TAUGHT how to love their husbands? You had better believe it. That is what this verse is saying.

How to love your husband
"Exhort (encourage) one another daily, Heb. 3:13. Man doesn't live by bread alone, he needs buttering up "daily." If you dear wives learn this we men are sunk, we will be melted butter in your hands.

Men need admiration
Wives need attention men need admiration. Men are wired with this macho chromosome, this male ego. It is no more wrong or evil than the wives need for attention, the need to be noticed by her husband. (More on this next time.)

I mentored a man who rose like a rocket in his firm. He was greatly admired by all in his company. Everything he did went right. All day he would hear one accolade after another. He would come home and his wife had seen and knew all of his faults and pointed them out routinely. It crushed him. Jesus said, "A prophet (a man) is not without honor but in his own country and among his own kin and IN HIS OWN HOUSE" Mark 5:4. Believe me dear ladies, he desperately wants and needs your admiration, your praise, your encouragement. If you want his TLC let him know he is the greatest guy in all the world. You do this, daily, and you will have him wrapped around your little finger.

He was put down on the job
Maybe he was put down, crushed, scorned, messed up on the job and he needs that reassurance from the one he loves the most, his wife. Give it to him and you will be the queen on the throne every day. Yes, you need that TLC everyday but I have learned that women are far more apt to lead the way in the home, to be the wife she needs than he is to be the husband h needs to be. It is often like a game of checkers, its your move.

A lady told me she was brought up not to brag on people. Well, you had better learn to brag on your husband, rave about him and he will be putty in your hands.

Prayer:  Father, bless this home. So much is expected of men to day. Help this wife to make her husband the greatest guy on earth, for her good and for Your glory. IN Jesus name

Wives Love your Husband

Wives, you have a special promise

Likewise, ye wives, be in submission to your own husbands, that, if any obey not the word, (the Word of God) they may without "a" word in the Greek (of nagging or begging from you) be won by the conversation (behavior) of the wives" 1 Peter 3:1.

Love the stew out of him
" So that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart " 1 Peter 1:22. This goes for husbands and wives as well as "the brethren." Make sense? Do everything in your power to make him feel good about himself, "brag on him" and believe me, he will feel good about you. Make sense. Remember, I laid it on him in the last email to "love your wife as Christ loved the church" Eph 5:25.

Help make him be the spiritual leader Here is a husband who doesn't read his Bible, doesn't pray as he ought, doesn't go to church etc. What is a wife to do? She is to be in submission (spiritually) "as unto the Lord" Eph. 4:22.

"If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home" 1 Cor. 14:35. Now, if we preachers and teachers will do our part correctly, we will ask women who ask us questions about the Bible and spiritual things if they have asked their husbands. If they have not we should not give them the answers but tell them to go ask their husband like the Bible says. I do this all the time. If they say, "but he is not a Christian" or "he is not spiritually minded," it does not matter. They should show him this verse and tell them "I am to be in submission to you" and you must give me an answer.

Adorn yourself
The most beautiful garment she owns did not come from Saks of Fifth Avenue but from the wardrobe of heaven, "while they behold your chaste behavior coupled with fear...the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which IN THE SIGHT OF GOD is of great price" 1 Peter 3:3. The only way you get that beautiful garment is to "walk in the Spirit" Gal 5:16. Get my book, "How ON Earth Can I Be Spiritual" and learn how to be "Filled with the Spirit" and "How to Walk in the Spirit."

Your spiritual ministry
You can "win him, " you can make him become a man of God as he is graciously forced to get spiritual answers. What a spiritual ministry you have to the one you love, the one you left your mother and father for and who became the father of your dear children. It is a terrible tragedy when women let their husbands pass off the spiritual role of the home to their wives. Doesn't this make sense? Minister to your husband. Rave about him at every step he takes to be the spiritual leader he must be. Much more to come for husbands and wives. Tell your friends and family.

O dear lady, if you "love your husband" your will do all you can to be submissive and urge him on to be the man of God for you and your family.

Prayer:  Father, bless these dear women and adorn them in the gorgeous garments of God You have for them so they can win their husbands to You, In Jesus name.

Love in a Marriage

Husbands love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself up for her" Eph. 5:25.

I want to do a series on husbands and wives relationships, 1 Spiritually 2. Emotionally 3. Physically.

1. Relationship of husband to wife, Spiritually.

"HUSBANDS, LOVE YOUR WIVES"

The word "love" is agape which is God's love, unselfish love, sacrificial love, the fruit of the Spirit which is not natural, Gal 5:22. When you married her, you promised to :"love her until death do you part." Now DO IT.

MAKE HER HAPPY

It means to look out for her good and her happiness. It means to please her and not demand that she please you. To expect and demand that she please you is selfish, devilish, carnal and unbiblical. (More on this and her part later and she should want to please you.) "So that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart" 1 Peter 1:22. Dear people, this is for husbands and wives just as much as for brothers and sisters in Christ. Make sense? Husband you have a spiritual ministry to your wife, first and foremost. Love her. Make her know she is loved with words and ways. Make sense?

CHECK UP ON YOUR WIFE

Everyday when you come home you ought to check up on your wife and see how she is doing. Too often we barge in and blow off about what a hard time we had at work. That is selfish, carnal living. She probably had a hard time with the kids, the kitchen sink and on and on. "Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others" (and that includes wives.) We are not to look out for number one (ourselves) but others and ESPECIALLY our wives, and you must if you want them to "be submissive to your husbands" 1 Peter 3:1. I am shocked at men who don't genuinely "love their wives" and then expect their wives to "be in submission" to them. THAT IS DEAD WRONG and men who do that need to wake up.

O kind sir, your wife gave herself, gave her body, to you and believe me that is hard for every woman, you must love her, unselfishly. You are to "leave" your mother and father and "cleave" to your wife. You loved and honored your mother now do the same for your wife. That is one of your primary spiritual ministries. Just as much as being a deacon or usher or S. S. teacher. Be diligent at both. You are the "head" of your home. You are the leader, now lead in loving.

Quote:  "It is not only important to marry the right person but also to be the right partner."

Prayer:  Father, bless us men and help us to love our wives even as You love us. In Jesus name.

Cherish Your Wife

"Husbands cherish your wife" Eph 5:29.

Cherish your wife.
The Greek word for "cherish" is awesome. "Thalpo" cherish, primarily means to heat, to soften by heat; the to keep warm, as of birds covering their young with their feathers, Deut. 22:6. Metaphorically, to cherish with tender love, to foster with tender care of Christ and the church. Used In 1 Thes. 2:7 of the care of the saints at Thessalonica by the Apostle and his associates as of a nurse for her children. Taken from Vines Greek studies.

Husbands, we aren't made that way, and I top the list. We have to work at it. God says, "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives " 1 Peter 3:7. What do you know about women, about your wife? You and I know one thing, they need TONS of "tender loving care" and if your want them to meet your "needs" we must meet their needs of TLC. Doesn't that make sense? Sure it does.

No frigid women
Years ago I read this statement, "There are not frigid wives only clumsy husbands who do not know how to warm them up with tender loving care." The older I get, the more counseling I do, the more I know about women, the more I know about my wife, the more that statement becomes absolutely true.

Women need tender touching
I read a wise counselor who said women need to be tenderly touched at least ten times a day. That endearing love pat, that tender kiss for no special reason, that gentle stroke of her hair, that hug, that embraced for a minute or two that make her feel so loved and secure in your arms, in fact all those things you did courting her and making her think you were the personification of Romeo. Come on men, get rid of that macho image and just love the stew out of your wife, "cherish her" warm her up. Doesn't that make sense? Go back to courting her, woo her, be so attractive she will melt in your arms. You know how often sport coaches tell their players, "Go back to the basics." We men need that in our marriages. Do it, kind sir and watch her submit to you in every way.

Prayer:  Father, You went out of your way to woo and win us. Help us men to go out of our way to woo and win our wives for our own good and Your glory, in Jesus name.

Husbands Love your Wife

Husbands, love your wives and nourish them" Eph 5:24, 29.

How to make your wife be in submission Do you want her to be "in submission" Eph 5:22 to you? Well, its all up to you. If she is going to be a spiritual woman and be in submission to you spiritually, socially and physically, then YOU must "nourish" her spiritually so she is the kind of Christian woman who can be in submission. Make sense?

How to nourish your wife
Now this is fun and exhilarating AND it works. "God wrote you a letter, you ought to read your mail." Turn off the TV and read at least 5 chapters of the Bible, your mail, a day. Find some terrific promise or truth that blesses your heart and share it at the dinner table with your wife and children. WOW, they will be impressed and honor YOU for your spiritual insight and instruction from God's Word. It does not have to be "profound" but practical and powerful from God.

You nourish them physically, now do it spiritually. The 5 "B's" of a good provider, Be Balanced, Brother, Be Balanced. You work hard to earn a living. You probably spent years in college or training and learning to be a good provider. You work hard to be a good golfer, fisherman, hunter or what ever and that is fine but how much more valuable would it be if you work just as hard at being that Godly provider for your wife and children. As you show spiritual wisdom and leadership, your wife and family will gladly be in submission to you. Make sense?

Oh, kind sir, DO IT. It may seem awkward to begin with but like anything else you do you will get better as you do it and you will please GOD and your family and be admired by all as it transforms you and your family.

Prayer:  Father. bless this dear man and make him a man of God that will make his family and YOU so proud of him. In Jesus name.

Help us grow, send referrals, ideas, comments, encouragement's (Heb 3:13.
Husbands, cherish your wife

Our Body is a Temple

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body" 1 Cor. 6:19, 20. Memorize this verse

The Lord is in His holy Temple
No wonder God says, "Flee from sexual immorality" vs. 18. The Holy Spirit living in us makes everything we do sacred. Learn this verse.

Be ye holy
"But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy" 1 Peter 1:15, 16. "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of his glory" Isa. 6:3. "Dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates our body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God" 2 Cor. 7:1.

O dear people, "Be holy" must be a prime purpose, a godly goal for our lives so that we can please Him, praise Him, preach Him, to a lost world before they die and go to hell. Make sense? "Now unto Him be glory"

Delight in the Lord

It is a delight, sheer ecstasy, to win someone to Christ and see them born of God right before your eyes. It is a delight to read the Word of God and see God open a very precious and eternal truth to you. It is a delight to preach or teach and see people transformed into a radiant Christian. It is a delight to go to Church and hear the Word of God proclaimed and your heart stirred to love Jesus more and be filled with joy. David said, "I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart" Ps. 40:8. What a wonderful way to get what you crave and live a fruitful and fulfilling life.

"We write this to make our joy complete" 1 John 1:4.

YOU, full of joy!
God does not want us to have a dreary life filled with drudgery and discouragement. He tells about having "fullness of joy." John 16:15, Psalm 16:11. It is one thing to have fleshly fun and another to have fullness of joy for "the joy of the Lord is your strength" Neh. 8:10.

At The Least, ATL, memorize "because you said so, I will" Lk 5:5.

ATL "encourage one another daily" Heb 3:13

ATL "You do not have, because you do not ask God" James 4:2.

ATL "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men" Matt. 4:19

Cut these out, paste, type, print or write them on the back of a business card, to carry with you, memorize and repeat every day for 7 weeks. Then drop these and add 2 more.YOU CAN DO IT.

O dear people, memorize these verses and live a life full of them. all because of Calvary, sumner.

Directions to God's House

Make a Right onto "Good News Blvd, " which is Christ died for your sins and rose again. Keep straight on "Believe Blvd" which is "believe in the Lord Jesus" as your Savior too and go through the Green Light, which is, receive the Lord Jesus personally right now. There, you must turn onto the "Bridge of Faith," which is "he that believeth in the Son has everlasting life." When you get off the bridge, make a Right turn and Keep Straight. You are on the "King's Highway" - Heaven-bound. Keep going for three miles: One for the Father, One for the Son, and One for the Holy Ghost. Then exit off onto "Grace Blvd." which is His grace is sufficient From there, make a Right turn on "Holy Spirit Ave" and Walk in the Spirit. Keep Straight, then make a Right on "Bible Blvd" which leads to "Prayer Place." As you go on your way, Yield Not to the traffic on "Temptation Ave." Also, avoid SIN STREET because it is a DEAD END. Pass up "Envy Drive," and "Hate Avenue." Also, pass "Hypocrisy Street," "Gossiping Road," and Backbiting Blvd." However, you have to go down "Long-suffering Lane," "Persecution Blvd.," and "Trials and Tribulations Ave." But that's all right, because VICTORY Street is straight ahead and leads through the gates of Pearl onto the streets of gold to the Father's house and the mansion prepared for you.
AMEN!!!!!

SEND THESE DIRECTIONS TO YOUR FRIENDS SO THEY WILL NOT GET LOST.

God loves you, He proved it by giving His son to die on the cross for your sins and rose again.

The Urgency of knowing God!

God put it there!

These days, with all the emphasis on one's physical fitness, a new organization has sprung up called "Athletics Anonymous."  When you get the urge to play golf, tennis, go power-walking or bicycle riding (or anything else involving a type of physical activity), they send someone over to watch TV with you until the urge passes.

When you get the urge to do something for God and eternity, the devil sends someone over to stick with you until the urge to please God passes. Have you noticed the ads on TV end with an emphatic, CALL NOW! Call while you have the urge. We must do the same with God. You can memorize these verses we are giving. You can witness and win people to Christ. You can read at least 5 chapters in the Bible a day. You can pray for the things God tells us. DO IT NOW. "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose" Phil 2:13, DO IT NOW!

All because God loves YOU.

Prayer:  Father bless your children and may we respond to Your desires. In Jesus' name

How to know the will of God

"For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose" Phil. 2:13

Memorize this verse. It is powerful truth to live by. Every good desire or deed that you have comes from God. He put that desire into your heart. You MUST respond and do it. When you do what God urges you to do, he will give you more! That is a great principal to understand. "'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents" Matt 25:28. "Use it or lose it." Make sense?

"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts" Col. 3:15

When you are doing the will of God and are in the will of God you will have "the peace of God." It all boils down to "let the peace of God guide you." If you are "walking in the Spirit" and being "led by the Spirit" you will have "the fruit of the Spirit" PEACE. Now doesn't that make sense? Here is how you can know the will of God. The word "rule" means to "judge, umpire or arbitrate" as to whether you do it or don't.

And Simon answering saying unto his Master, we have toiled all the night have taken nothing, nevertheless at Thy word I will let down the net. Luke 5:5

Greatest verse to live by

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. Heb 3:13

Great verse on how to treat each other

"Encourage one another daily" Heb 3:13

"You do not have, because you do not ask God" James 4:2.

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men" Matt. 4:19

Cut these out, paste, type, print or write them on the back of a business card, to carry with you, memorize and repeat every day for 7 weeks. Then add 2 more. YOU CAN DO IT. It will be worth a fortune to you Ps 119:11 and you will thank me in heaven.

Prayer:  Father bless Your children and may they "hide Thy Word in their heart" In Jesus name.

A Rare Message

This just came to me. I have never sent anything that is not a
Biblical admonition but felt this good enough to send today. Hope you
enjoy it.

According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were
kids in the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's or even the early 80's,
probably shouldn't have survived.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors!

We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in
it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside
playing.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no
one actually died from this.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode
down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running
into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we
were back ! when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach
us all day. No cell phones. Unthinkable!

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at
all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound,
personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms.

We had friends! We went outside and found them.

We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really hurt.

We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there
were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were accidents. No one was
to blame but us. Remember accidents?

We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and
learned to get over it.

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were
told it would happen, we did not put out any eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or
rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who
didn't make the team had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Some students weren't as smart as others, so they failed a grade and
were held back to repeat the same grade. Horrors!

Tests were not adjusted for any reason.

Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected.

The idea of parents bailing us out if we got in trouble in school or
broke a law was unheard of. They actually sided with the school or the
law. Imagine that!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem
solvers, and inventors, ever.

We had freedom, failure, success, and responsibility --- and we
learned how to deal with it.

And you're one of them!

God is good to protect us as children, then to save us and use us to
His glory. Remember Jesus, suffered and died for your sins, paid your
debt in full and rose again so you can receive Him as your savior too.
BE THANKFUL you did not die before being saved. Receive Him if you
haven't already done so.

Love you, all because of Calvary, sumner

Rejoice in the Lord

Get Excited About God

1. Read His Word. God wrote you a letter, you ought to read your mail 2. Remember His Word, (memorize it). Be like Jesus, He memorized the Bible 3. Rehearse His Word (meditate therein day and night) 4. Respond to His Word (obey God. do what He said) 5. Relate His Word: preach it.

6. Rejoice in His Word Ps 1:1, 2.
"Blessed is the man...that delights in the law of the Lord" Ps. 1:1,2.

Delight in the Bible
All of our five children and their children play golf. It is fun. You should see us when one of us makes a birdie. We have a duck fit. In one of our family tournaments one of our sons made a hole in one. WOW. You have never seen such carrying on. But do you know what. It did not last forever. When you and I delight in the Word of God and find an eternal nugget it lasts forever and we are eternally blessed.

Set your affections on things above.  There is nothing wrong with having fun and delighting in things down here. The wise man will set his affections on things above Col. 3:1 and "delight in the law of the Lord" Ps. 1:2. He will get great pleasure out of the Bible. Doesn't that make sense?

I am amazed
You have heard it. Someone sees a movie or a TV program that delights them and they relate the story or program in detail. When have you heard someone get so delighted in the Word of God, and it is FULL of the most exciting stories and truths in the world, and they tell about what they read the day before? With all the bad things in the news and terrible TV programs, we need to "exhort (encourage) one another daily" with something from God Heb. 3:13.

O dear people, we have such a fabulous opportunity to be a blessing and encourage one another and exalt the Lord Jesus by "delighting the law of the Lord."

Prayer:  Father, You wrote us the most exciting letter in the world. Help us to delight in Your Letter and share it with others. In Jesus name

Scripture:  "Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart" Ps 37:4

What is the most important thing that has happened to you!

Relate His Word: preach it.

The first thing Jesus said to his disciples was, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men," not great students of the Bible or prayer warriors, though we all ought to be that as well, but FISHERS OF MEN! Are you a fisher of men? Matt. 4:19. The last thing Jesus said was, "Preach the gospel to EVERY creature (person) Mark 16:15.

What a privilege

What is the most important thing to ever happen to you? Why, getting saved, of course. Then, what is the most important thing you can do for someone else? Why, get them saved, of course. Think of it, "We are ambassadors of Christ" and have the privilege of helping people go to heaven instead of hell.

Someone told you.

Who "preached the gospel" to you and you got saved? Someone cared enough to obey God and get the gospel to you, then why don't we do the same for our family, friends and even foes? Gene Gaskins planted the seed, got me to church to hear the gospel and I got saved. I am eternally grateful to him for it and have told him so scorers of times.

Jesus did it

Jesus told a most unlikely woman who had been married 5 times, living with a man that she was not married to (pretty modern, huh) and she got saved and brought a whole city to Christ John 4. You could do the same today.

Philip preached to one person

Philip preached to that Ethiopian Eunuch and he got saved and was the first one to get the gospel into Africa. Jesus preached to that one "woman at the well," she got saved and brought the whole city to Jesus.

We can change the world

They say there are 50 million "born again" Christians in America. If each one, won one, in one year, we would have 100 million believers next year. Then if each one of them won one in one year, we would have 200 million born again believers in American. That is most of the population and that would change our country dramatically. "The harvest is plenteous" Do you believe it? The problem is "the laborers are few." Matt. 9:37. Let's be one of the laborers and get in on the harvest. Surely, you can win one person to Christ in a whole year. Will you?

O dear people, we must be like Joshua, "as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord" Joshua 24:15 and like Peter, "because you say so, I will" Luke 5:5. All because of Calvary, sumner

Prayer:  Father, make us worship You and witness for You like You told us to do. In Jesus name

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men" Matt. 4:19

Respond to His Word, Obey God!

1. Read His Word. God wrote you a letter, you ought to read your mail

2. Remember His Word, (memorize it). Be like Jesus, He memorized the Bible

3. Rehearse His Word (meditate therein day and night)

4. Respond to His Word (obey God. do what He said) "Simon answered, 'Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.'" Luke 5:5. He did and he caught the biggest catch of his life. This is the greatest verse for Christians to live by.

A good question
"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?" Luke 6:46.

Be a doer
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does" James 1:22-25. How logical. "Let us reason together says the Lord" Isa. 1:18. Oh how we need to just obey God.

Obey His Word
In Deuteronomy, one of my favorite books, when Israel was about to leave the wilderness, (they were out of the will of God in the wilderness) and going  into the promised land, they were told over and over, to obey God, to observe and do all that God had commanded them to do, that it may go well with them and their children Deut. 4:40.

Meditate on these last five lines. It is the key to the Christian life today.

Saved unto good works
We are NOT saved or kept saved by good works but we are "created in Christ Jesus to do good works" Eph. 2:10. "Good works don't produce salvation but salvation produces good works."

Prayer:  Father bless Your children and help us to obey You for our good and Your glory. In Jesus name.

O dear people, as you read the Word of the living God, be honest with yourself and just DO WHAT GOD SAYS. When God says, "Pray," pray. When God says "Read," read. When God says, "Give," give.

Meditate and prosper and succeed

1. Read His Word. God wrote you a letter, you ought to read your mail 2. Remember His Word, (memorize it). Be like Jesus, He memorized the Bible 3. Rehearse His Word (meditate therein day and night)

There are three great spiritual exercises that are too often neglected
1. Fasting: Jesus said, "But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting" Matt. 17:21
2. Footwashing, Jesus said, "If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them" John 13:17.
3. Meditation. God said, "You will prosper and have good success" Josh. 1:8,9.

We all want these results
"This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success" Josh. 1:8

What is meditation
It means to think seriously and intensely on God and His Word. Meditate means "prolonged, concentrated thinking." It is not just putting your mind in neutral and dwell on anything that comes to your mind. Satan puts many foolish and wicked thoughts into people's mind.

How do you do it?
Get alone if possible or just think as you drive. No TV or radio or distractions. Be sure all sin in confessed and cleansed. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach and minister to you through this passage. Open your Bible to a verse or passage you have a special interest in or God has put on your heart. Read the verses and then read each word slowly and think of other verses with this same word and how they fit with this verse.

A powerful exercise and experience This is one of my pet spiritual exercises and experiences. From the night I was saved, I have practiced meditating on God, our dear Father, our wonderful Savior, the sweet Holy Spirit and verses of the Bible. It is awesome how the Holy Spirit will give you insight, ideas, spiritual wisdom and truths from this practice. Thousands of times I have been overcome with God's presence, power and blessing. The key is to stay focused especially on His Word and the Lord Jesus.

Prayer: Father help your children reading this to master the spiritual exercise of meditating on the things of God and may their lives but enriched and eternally benefited from this great experience. In Jesus name.

Words to live by: O dear people this may be the sweetest spiritual experience you will every practice. ARE YOU MEMORIZING THE VERSES WE GAVE YOU WEDNESDAY? I wish everyone would do it! It is worth more than a kings forturne. Sumner Wemp

The Word of the Living and Only God

The Word of the living and only God

1.    Read His Word, (daily)

2. Remember His Word, (memorize it) 3. Rehearse His Word, (meditate on it) 4. Respond to His Word, (obey it) 5. Relate His Word, (preach it) 6. Rejoice in His Word, (and prosper)

One of you sent me this great outline and I feel impressed to write a series on it.

Read His Word

Josiah was a great king.  "Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, "I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD." And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan who read it" 2 Kings 22:8. WE MUST READ THE BIBLE!

"When the king heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes" vs. 11. He rededicated his life 23:1-3. He reformed his ways 4-5. Revival came "Before him there was no king like him who turned to the LORD with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise after him" 23:25.

Do you read the Bible? Daily?

O dear people, God wrote you a letter and you ought to read your mail! Doesn't that make sense?

How much do you read?

As much as you read the newspaper? As much as you watch TV? Fifteen to thirty minutes a day ought to be a minimum. You will be weak as water, emaciated, susceptible to every carnal disease that comes along. I am appalled at the lack of Spiritual discernment of Christians today.

2.    "As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow thereby" 1 Peter 3:2. There are just too many 20 and 30 year old baby Christians today! Have you seen a baby take his bottle lately? Too many Christians have filled there hearts with too much dumb junk on TV and lost their appetite for the precious Word of God.

Jeremiah's testimony about His Word "Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts." Jer. 15:16. That is the natural and normal reaction to God's food!

Job's estimation

"I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food" Job 23:12. What is your estimation? Does it show? Put your priorities in order.

Oh dear people, read the Word of God more than the words of men and be transformed, be changed into the person God wants you to be and filled joy and with life more abundantly to HIS GLORY. Start reading the Gospel of John and on through the whole New Testament and then go back to Matthew and read the New Testament again.

Why Bad Things Happen to Good People #2

"In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world" John 16:33. We are in the world but we are not of the world John 17:16. There are, by far, more martyrs for Christ than ever before. "You will have tribulations" and we are seeing more of it by the day. Prepare yourself for these tribulations by studying God's Word daily, memorizing scriptures, and through your prayer life.

"Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you" 1 John 3:13. " If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. "If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. "Remember the word that I said to you, 'A slave is not greater than his master ' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you " John 15:18-20. You can count on that. The more Christ like you are the more conviction you are to this world and they will hate you for it but don't you DARE compromise your convictions and concern for the lost of this world.

Don't ask what's going on when you face fiery trials "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation" 1 Peter 4:12, 13. Now this isn't popular preaching today. People want to hear health and wealth preaching. The health and wealth preaching just is not reality so be ware. "Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted" 2 Tim. 3:12. "For to you it has been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake" Phil 1:29. BUT, "If we endure, we will also reign with Him" 2 Tim 2:12.

Prayer:  Father bless Your child reading this, who is facing rejection by the world. Give them a double dose of Your love and grace and give them godly friends to encourage them. In Jesus name.

Remember Jesus loves you and died for your sins, paid your debt in full, rose again and wants to be Your Savior and best friend. I love you, all because of Calvary, sumner

Why Bad Things Happen to Good People #1

Satan, the wicked one brings tragedies!

"There was a man whose name was Job; and Job was blameless, upright, God fearing, and turning away from evil" Job 1:1. He was called "the greatest of all the men of the East." You just couldn't find a better man.

Then a messenger came to Job saying that all of his farm hands had been killed by the Sabeans. "And while he was still speaking" another messenger arrived saying "the fire of God fell and burned up all his sheep" again a messenger came saying, the Chaldeans stole all his camels and killed all his shepherds and "while he was still speaking" another messenger came and told how his seven sons and three daughters were all killed by "a great wind." And you think you're having a bad day! 1:12-19

Job was then "smitten with sore boils." By now his wife was blaming God and said, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die " 2:9. "Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God " 1:22. Here is the clincher. Job did not have a clue as to why all of this was happening to him. Have you been there? I have.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places " Eph. 6:12. Satan and spiritual wickedness is openly at war with Christ and Christians and you had better believe it.

If you are truly seeking God and following His ways you will be targeted by Satan and all of his henchmen just as was Job. BUT, great will be your reward perhaps, here and hereafter, as was Job 42:10.

Churchill so valiantly said, "Never, never, never quit." You and I have read the last chapter of the Book and WE WIN. For sure, "It will be worth it all, when we see Jesus, life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ. One glimpse of His dear face, all sorrow will be erased, so bravely run the race, til we see Christ."

Prayer:  Father, bless Your dear child going through dark waters right now, even as they read this. Give them Your grace and wisdom to honor You and to love You through it all.

Our God Invented it all

President Ronald Reagan was once challenged by a college student who said it was impossible for Reagan's generation to understand his."You grew up in a different world," the student said. "Today we have television, computers, jet planes, space travel, nuclear energy..."Taking advantage of a pause in the student's litany, Reagan said. "You are right. We didn't have those things when we were young, We invented them."

Scientists say
Some scientists scoff at and ridicule Christians saying, "You don't have all the facts nor understand space, the planetary and solar systems and nuclear energy..."

We need to interrupt and say, "No, we don't know all of that but our God invented it." "In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth." Gen. 1:1.

Some say, "But you take it all by blind faith."

A study of creation and evolution.
In 1956, I made a detailed and thorough study of creation and evolution. Do you know what I found? There were over 20 major theories of creation and evolution. One said, "There was a microscopic glob of transparent jelly floating on the water and it evolved into life and finally man." I wanted to ask, "Where did the glob of jelly come from?" Where did the water it was floating on come from?" "Where did the energy and dust come from that caused the "big bang?" It takes more "blind faith" to believe in the theories of creation and evolution than to believe an intelligent and very wise Person, God, created the world and man with all of his intricate parts. Doesn't that make sense?

Man on the moon
When man went to the moon, he had many ideas and beliefs about the moon. Later I read an article by a scientist, wish I still had it, in which he named a number of things they believed, "from their scientific studies about the moon" and expected to find true. He than told of five major things, they found were not true but some the very exact opposite! Remember they have many "theories" with absolute no proof which are taught as facts in our schools.

O dear people, believe God. Believe the Bible. It makes a lot more sense than all the theories of man. He loves you and His Son suffered and dies for your sins, rose again and wants to be the Savior of every person. Is He yours? Receive Him now. All because of Calvary, sumner

Prayer:  Father, help your children to believe You and not finite man with a lot of "blind faith" in unproven ideas and theories. In Jesus name.
