I am so excited, so fired up, I can hardly contain myself. As many of you know, I get my haircuts at a black barber college. Over two years ago the dear Lord directed me to go there, they have over 50 barbers in training and I found a barber who had been wanting to be saved for over 3 months. I told him how God loved him, sent the Lord Jesus to suffer and die for his sins, paid his debt in full, rose again and was seen by hundreds. God gave him understanding and he prayed right there to receive the Lord Jesus as his Savior too and was transformed. The next time I was there he said, "You wont believe the change that has come over me." I did so and was he ever changed.

Now I go there regularly and have seen God save 10 barbers who prayed to receive the Lord Jesus as their Savior. Today, I was not feeling great but knew I had to go get a haircut. When I got there, I was directed to Jeff. Most do not know how to give white folks haircuts. He did pretty good. When I asked if he knew for sure he was going to heaven, he did not have a clue. Carefully I gave him the "full" gospel, how Christ died for our sins, paid our debt in full, was buried, rose again and was seen by hundreds. It was fabulous, God really opened his understanding and he caught it. He prayed to receive the Lord Jesus as his Savior and looked up beaming with the joy of the Lord. Two chairs down was another barber just sitting there. He too did not have a clue if he was going to heaven It was fantastic how God opened his spiritual eyes and he too prayed to receive the Lord Jesus as his Savior and had joyful assurance he was saved.

Last Friday, I had the joy of leading a grocery clerk in the big super market where we trade. He was so ready to receive the Lord Jesus. My point in telling this is to say as Jesus said, "the harvest is plenteous." Christians just are not giving the gospel to "every" person as God gave us the privilege and command to do. DEAR PEOPLE get some tracts, take them with you every place you go. Pass them out graciously and see God open the door and YOU have the eternal joy and privilege to lead people to Christ and heaven instead of letting them die and go to hell. Make sense?

The Plan for Lighting the Lamps

This is so vital for us today. ALL that happened to Israel were examples for us

"They shall light the lamps thereof" (Ex. 25:37). There is human responsibility for the light to be lit and burning. The priests were to light the lamp, God's plan is to use men as they preach the Word of God for people to come out of darkness into the light. "There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all men through him might believe" (Jn. 1:6-7).

 

As Christ is seen through us, and as we give out the Gospel, we light the lamps in men's lives all over the world. By preaching and exhortation, we fan the flame in men's lives, exhorting "one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin" (Heb. 3:13).

 

The individual is also responsible to "draw nigh to God" (Jam. 4:8). What a sad day in Israel when Isaiah could say, "And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee (Is. 64:7). The need of the hour is for us to take stock of our own lives and then shake and stir ourselves out of our own lethargy. "Go to the ant, thou sluggard" (Pr. 6:6). "Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame" (1 Cor. 15:34). These admonitions of a gracious God exhort us to action before He has to chasten us into action the hard way. Since we are all priests, we should beware lest the lamp of God go out in our own lives.

See what happened 68 years ago tomorrow, Tues. It is effecting you right now.

I was a 16 year old kid, lost as a three dollar bill, cursing like a dog, 4 in the morning getting ready to deliver my newspaper route when Gene Gaskins, of Jax Fla. asked me why I cursed so much. I let him have it. He did the strangest thing, he asked me to go to church with him the next Sunday. My reply was, I don't go to church. Three weeks before this, I was in one of the worse honky tonks in Jacksonville, Fla.

Guess what God did. He honored Gene's simple witness and began drawing me. Until the next Sunday I could hardly wait to go to church. As far as I know, I had gone to church only one time when I was about 8  years old and do not remember a thing about it.

I had never held a Bible. I did not know there was an O. T. and N. T. When I heard it, I had no idea what in the world they were talking about. I had never heard "Jesus loves me this I know". To be continued!

PLEASE invite people, especially young people, to go to church with you. God says, "Compel them to come". When I was a pastor, I stressed this to our people and it worked and paid off wonderfully with many getting saved. To God be the glory, the last two years I pastored, we had more people saved than any other church in our city and we were far from the largest church. GOD DID IT through our people inviting and bringing people to church. We must not go to heaven all by ourselves. We must get many others to go with us. ABC Sumner

Yesterday, I had the joy of leading a clerk to Christ in our super market grocery store. Last week I gave him a "Ticket to Heaven".  Yesterday, I saw him and asked if he knew he was going to heaven. He did not. I gave him the gospel again quickly and he now understood it and was saved right then and he thanked me over and over. Hope you win one this week.
