Respond to His Word, Obey God!

1. Read His Word. God wrote you a letter, you ought to read your mail

2. Remember His Word, (memorize it). Be like Jesus, He memorized the Bible

3. Rehearse His Word (meditate therein day and night)

4. Respond to His Word (obey God. do what He said) "Simon answered, 'Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.'" Luke 5:5. He did and he caught the biggest catch of his life. This is the greatest verse for Christians to live by.

A good question
"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?" Luke 6:46.

Be a doer
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does" James 1:22-25. How logical. "Let us reason together says the Lord" Isa. 1:18. Oh how we need to just obey God.

Obey His Word
In Deuteronomy, one of my favorite books, when Israel was about to leave the wilderness, (they were out of the will of God in the wilderness) and going  into the promised land, they were told over and over, to obey God, to observe and do all that God had commanded them to do, that it may go well with them and their children Deut. 4:40.

Meditate on these last five lines. It is the key to the Christian life today.

Saved unto good works
We are NOT saved or kept saved by good works but we are "created in Christ Jesus to do good works" Eph. 2:10. "Good works don't produce salvation but salvation produces good works."

Prayer:  Father bless Your children and help us to obey You for our good and Your glory. In Jesus name.

O dear people, as you read the Word of the living God, be honest with yourself and just DO WHAT GOD SAYS. When God says, "Pray," pray. When God says "Read," read. When God says, "Give," give.

Meditate and prosper and succeed

1. Read His Word. God wrote you a letter, you ought to read your mail 2. Remember His Word, (memorize it). Be like Jesus, He memorized the Bible 3. Rehearse His Word (meditate therein day and night)

There are three great spiritual exercises that are too often neglected
1. Fasting: Jesus said, "But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting" Matt. 17:21
2. Footwashing, Jesus said, "If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them" John 13:17.
3. Meditation. God said, "You will prosper and have good success" Josh. 1:8,9.

We all want these results
"This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success" Josh. 1:8

What is meditation
It means to think seriously and intensely on God and His Word. Meditate means "prolonged, concentrated thinking." It is not just putting your mind in neutral and dwell on anything that comes to your mind. Satan puts many foolish and wicked thoughts into people's mind.

How do you do it?
Get alone if possible or just think as you drive. No TV or radio or distractions. Be sure all sin in confessed and cleansed. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach and minister to you through this passage. Open your Bible to a verse or passage you have a special interest in or God has put on your heart. Read the verses and then read each word slowly and think of other verses with this same word and how they fit with this verse.

A powerful exercise and experience This is one of my pet spiritual exercises and experiences. From the night I was saved, I have practiced meditating on God, our dear Father, our wonderful Savior, the sweet Holy Spirit and verses of the Bible. It is awesome how the Holy Spirit will give you insight, ideas, spiritual wisdom and truths from this practice. Thousands of times I have been overcome with God's presence, power and blessing. The key is to stay focused especially on His Word and the Lord Jesus.

Prayer: Father help your children reading this to master the spiritual exercise of meditating on the things of God and may their lives but enriched and eternally benefited from this great experience. In Jesus name.

Words to live by: O dear people this may be the sweetest spiritual experience you will every practice. ARE YOU MEMORIZING THE VERSES WE GAVE YOU WEDNESDAY? I wish everyone would do it! It is worth more than a kings forturne. Sumner Wemp

The Word of the Living and Only God

The Word of the living and only God

1.    Read His Word, (daily)

2. Remember His Word, (memorize it) 3. Rehearse His Word, (meditate on it) 4. Respond to His Word, (obey it) 5. Relate His Word, (preach it) 6. Rejoice in His Word, (and prosper)

One of you sent me this great outline and I feel impressed to write a series on it.

Read His Word

Josiah was a great king.  "Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, "I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD." And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan who read it" 2 Kings 22:8. WE MUST READ THE BIBLE!

"When the king heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes" vs. 11. He rededicated his life 23:1-3. He reformed his ways 4-5. Revival came "Before him there was no king like him who turned to the LORD with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise after him" 23:25.

Do you read the Bible? Daily?

O dear people, God wrote you a letter and you ought to read your mail! Doesn't that make sense?

How much do you read?

As much as you read the newspaper? As much as you watch TV? Fifteen to thirty minutes a day ought to be a minimum. You will be weak as water, emaciated, susceptible to every carnal disease that comes along. I am appalled at the lack of Spiritual discernment of Christians today.

2.    "As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow thereby" 1 Peter 3:2. There are just too many 20 and 30 year old baby Christians today! Have you seen a baby take his bottle lately? Too many Christians have filled there hearts with too much dumb junk on TV and lost their appetite for the precious Word of God.

Jeremiah's testimony about His Word "Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts." Jer. 15:16. That is the natural and normal reaction to God's food!

Job's estimation

"I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food" Job 23:12. What is your estimation? Does it show? Put your priorities in order.

Oh dear people, read the Word of God more than the words of men and be transformed, be changed into the person God wants you to be and filled joy and with life more abundantly to HIS GLORY. Start reading the Gospel of John and on through the whole New Testament and then go back to Matthew and read the New Testament again.
