Being Thankful

Last Saturday, it was obvious that Celeste wasn't in the mood to fix dinner so I said, "Let's go out to eat." I never have to beg her. I always gain ten points when I take her out to eat. As we were paying the bill someone mentioned thankfulness and a lady said, "Oh, this is the season to be thankful." I could not help it and said, graciously, "Kind lady, every season is the time to be thankful." She caught it and said, "You are right."

After this short group of devotionals on being thankful I will go back to the series on marriage. For now, are you still making yourself attractive to your husband, your wife like you did when you were dating? SERIOUSLY think about it and make your self attractive like you did then. It is essential for a really happy marriage.

In Luke 17:11-19 is the greatest account about being thankful. As Jesus was entering that wicked city, Samaria, I have been there and you can feel the oppressive power of Satan and evil to this day, "There met him ten men that were lepers. And they lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cleansed. And ONE of them when he saw that he was healed turned back, fell down on his face at the feet of Jesus giving him thanks (and he was a Samaritan)." Wouldn't you have done the same?

Where are the nine?
"Then Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine--where are they?" Dear people, this is incomprehensible! Leprosy was worse than AIDS. There was no hope. They would live in misery and die in agony. Only one-tenth thanked him for being healed.

Unthankfulness a major sign
We are living in a world that is unthankful. Unthankfulness is a MAJOR sign of the last days. "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be…ungrateful" 2 Tim. 3:1-2.

Give thanks
"In everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" 1 Thes. 5:18. See, this is not just my desire but it is God's desire, His will, for you. My desire, my passion is that through this series we all will be more thankful, all the time. Tell someone, call someone, write someone and thank them for being your friend or something they have done to you or for you.

Prayer:  Father, you are so good to us everyday. Help us to be thankful and say thank you to You and to our friends and our family. In Jesus name.
