"And the tongs thereof and the snuff dishes thereof, shall be of pure gold" (Ex. 25:38). The tongs were used to trim the wicks so the lamp would not flicker and go out. We must trim our lamps daily, as they did in the tabernacle, if our testimony is to be what it should be. Bob Gray, late pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Fla. suggests that the "snuff dishes," or "boxes," were used to preserve the burned-out wicks and that perhaps in the true tabernacle in heaven God is storing them for a special memorial before Him. Even as a sparrow does not fall to the ground without God knowing it, a man never burns out for God but what special note is taken. Far away by yourself, never making headlines, living sacrificially, burning out for God, remember the snuff dishes" where the wicks were not thrown on the ground, but saved in golden boxes. All the trimming of our life is done with golden tongs with the loving care of our heavenly Father.
Now, a wick is not to be seen but only to burn to allow the light to sine When the light goes out, the wick is seen. This is true in life today. When we are burning for Christ we are not seen; His glory is seen through us. When our light shines so men see our works and glorify us, we have missed the boat. The real light of God, our testimony, has gone out and the reward is the praise of men, not of God.

Remember the ticket to heaven filled with one dollar bills. (She does this regularly) A young pregnant girl standing in a median with a cardboard sign. Don't know what it said. She was in the wrong median for me to get to her. I said "God - I need her over here." She see's a Sheriffs` car coming and starts walking away and over - RIGHT PAST MY CAR- God is so cool. I rolled down the window and held up traffic until she took my ticket to heaven and her dollar - NOT ONE car honked. She smiled really big and said thanks. Pray for her please.
