Footwashing
Jesus began washing the disciples feet, He came to Simon Peter and he was not going to let Jesus wash his feet. Jesus said, "If I wash thee not, you will have no part with me (not get in on what I am going to do). Peter then said well wash me all over. Jesus said, "He that is bathed, (washed all over at the moment of salvation) need not save, (except) to wash his feet" John 13:1-20.
Bathing or Footwashing?
When one who has been saved ("bathed" all over) and sins, he doesn't need to be bathed all over, he is still bathed, saved, and needs only to get his feet cleansed from the dirt in his daily walk.
Judge yourself.
"If we would judge ourselves, (that is quite rare today, it is easy to judge others and see their sins but not our own) we should not be judged, but when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world" 1 Cor. 11:31, 31. The Lord Jesus has already suffered and died for all of our sins, paid our debt in full so we will never be condemned for our sins. When a child of God sins, it breaks fellowship with the Lord, not relationship.
Confess your sins.
He must judge himself, confess the sin to the Lord who then is "faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" 1 John 1:9. Every Christian must read Psalm 51 to see what real confession is. That is what footwashing is all about. Our feet are now cleansed so we can walk with the Lord. When we wash one another's feet, we are forgiving them, cleansing their feet.
